the "live video" was a poorly filmed video of "actual riders" standing next too a "2013" sled.. i was waiting for one of those riders to punch a YAMAHA R&D guy in the crotch for this let down..

lol, don't forget the marketing guys.

And to think...as I was out ripping across some chutes and wind lips with a face full of powder on my lightweight, powerful, great handling "other" brand sled I missed this most epic of announcements...guess I'll be smelling of 2 stroke for a while yet. Way to bring it Yamaha!

My guess is that Yamaha is still sitting on a lot of inventory, and won't spend any money retooling for new product until they've depleted some of that inventory. This year's no-snow winter will delay that even more. Yamaha is more than capable of bringing the latest and greatest, but there are just too many factors working against them right now. One being the economy, and the deflated value of the dollar to the yen. This is probably the single biggest reason why U.S. based Cat and Polaris are at an advantage right now ... and it shows. We all know what Cat did last year, and just look at what Polaris is offering ...

hmmm... double the horsepower of my sled and an easy 50 pounds lighter

Apples to oranges but still makes a guy shake his head alright

I am sure some of you have read this by now from Chris Reed's Sled Talk but I thought I would share it for all to read:
http://snowmobiles.yamahablogs.ca/

This new early release sled was just a small preview of whats to come on March 2nd.... relax and at least give them the time and patience to see what is coming out. At that point, please feel free to express your concerns and opinions. Personally with the low snow this season and the poor economy any new sled release would be a risk so to me this is more positive then negative. Think about the time any of you have spent riding this season, right?? Yamaha is still pushing forward.

Some of us still love the look and feel of the 06 Apex ;)! and a new sled is not a must have.

Here is a better VID on the XTX:

I have a buddy that bought a 2012 M1100T and it has been loaded with issues unfortunately, I think Polaris is on to something with the RMK, I just haven't been real impressed with their 800 motor but I think they are getting there

No sense in buying a new sled if the motor is not worn out. :4STroke:

right but a motor wont do nothing without a proper chassis either. No new models needed but I think alot of people would be happier with a change in that department

For riders on the off-trail, ditch banger side, yamaha has a huge hole in their line-up between the nytro and the phazer. That's where I would like to see some new iron.

The XTX 1.75 will be a very nice sled, but as others have said, it should have been out a year or two after the XTX initial release. Not only that, I mentioned it in a Yamaha survey years ago that there should be a lighter, higher horsepower XTX SE model, and it's still not available, which I would have purchased in a heartbeat. Personally, I think Yamaha would sell a TON of XTX 1.75s if they would offer the same turbo/supercharger deal that the MTX SE 162 comes with as an option. Horsepower sells, that's why a lot of guys are jumping ship. Also, not everyone wants to keep a sled longer than 3 or so years. High Performance motorsports requires innovation and constant improvement in performance, there's just soooo much competition to be faster and lighter and better handling on and off trail, which is another reason why guys are switching brands, because they're willing to take a chance on a lightweight high horsepower 2 smoke, as most have the option of 2 or 3 years warranty as a snowcheck option. You have to be one step ahead of the competition in order to succeed in this sport, otherwise, it's game over ! On that note, I'm interested to see what Yamaha has in store for the full release, especially after reading that CR wasn't surprised by our reactions.
