Returned from Yamaha 2015 snowmobile update seminar on Wednesday with news on the viper situation. Yamaha has a new YSDT ( Yamaha snowmobile diagnostic tool ) just for the Viper sleds! Bad news is that will not be auto-shipped until first part of November ! Programming is done and testing almost complete , Yamaha fairly confident that this will cure `` most `` situations ! Keep calm for a while and cross your fingers !

Any indication of what the production date/serial number break was where they started loading the updated tuning? Or are the 2015 production models coming with the old programming?

Yeah early 2015, do you know how early?
I just bought 2 15's one was built 4/15 & 7/15

The pre-season one`s are subject to the reflashing ( Yamaha `s very first 100 ) . Orange and the blue white one`s.

The very first 100 is all ! They will also get the new exhaust , brake master cylinder and the flash.

What is the difference in the new exhaust? Also im wondering what is the difference in master cylinders? I have a 14 XTX SE I just picked up new in the crate and im wondering if there is anything I should bring it in for updates.

Muffler is reinforced and indicated by a weld spot on upper right mount. Headpipe has some reinforcing also. Not sure about caliper. Only way us 14 owners get this if they break and warranty covers it.

In the book they got at tech school. I just thought it was odd. I will look into it. Could be a error on their part.

The 2015 `s that were built in February will be the one`s that get the update kit....

So those that spring ordered will not need the flash and those that bought early production display models off the dealer floor will. Sound about right?

if programming and testing is almost done, and the 15's are already built or just finishing up, i bet every viper 2014, 2015 will need the update. rumor is no matter what the sleds will get the update even if you have been problem free.

My take on this is that the fix has been applied at the production end and that the hardware and software required for a field fix is just being finalized.

fastfreddy could you confirm this?
