Wonder what concerns there would be going back to the old mapping? I say good riddance.
I would assume its not about concerns, i think what is being said is you cant go back because the new flash overwrites the old program.
It yamaha is only providing a new flash/program. Once the old program is changed there is no actual old program to go back to and no way to reinstall it

Mine was April according to the sticker, but how do I trust that? Did they build it in April then set it aside until Late September/Early October?
FWIW my one funky start it just went put-put-put-put put as the cylinders went over then it took off.
My 2015 R-TX-DX has a build date of April 20, 2014 on it. Check the sticker on the front right side of the tunnel. I checked with my dealer today, he ran the VIN and said mine did not need the reflash. So far the Dealer has been very thorough and checked other items for me and been spot on, so this info seems reliable.
I would say if you have the oil tank with dipstick you do not need a reflash. All others run the vin.

Got a call today from my dealer saying I could come in anytime for the gas line and ECU flash service bulletins. He said he had all the tools/cables needed and takes about 30min.
The flash is supposed to fix the hot and cold start issues and once you change it you cannot go back to the old mapping.
I have never had the hot / cold start issues on my 2014 XTX. I just had mine into the dealer for preseason service.....oil change, reverse actuator bulletin, fuel joint clamps recall. Although I had talked to the mechanic (one of my riding buddies) in September about the flash and/or re-mapping, it was not done at this time.
Can anyone post the service bulletin for the re flash ?? Should I even have it done if I've had no problems ?? Any speed or HP gain expected with the flash ??
Thanks !!
We don't know yet. I read the bulletin and all it says is that the tool is shipping along with instructions and website for downloads. Is nothing even advising of a reflash for Vipers yet. I haven't visited the website for the downloads so maybe it's there.

I just picked mine (XF7000) up from the dealer after having the re-flash done. With it running in the shop, the throttle response off idle seems to be more crisp!
No snow yet though so I haven't been able to ride it yet. Hopefully we'll start getting some snow in the mountains soon.
