2014

Yamaha seams to be pushing the fact that they are still using their own clutch system. Maybe Arctic Cat won't be?

But you know what...I doubt it. When you want to share platforms and engine to save money you got to share the rest otherwise its expensive for nothing. So my bet is it will be identical but green. Just like the SRX 120 and everything you see in the vehicle world. BNG will be the only difference.

Will see in 6 days. Reveal dates.

I may have missed it, but what was it that was "industri first" that they advertised?

Yamaha hasnt spent a dime(dollar) they just want the cash.
They can say what they want, but this is a 2 years old Cat chassi with an 7 YEARS old engine.
Yamaha dont listen to the Yamaha people like us,they have just poop my back full and think i gonna buy this AC with Yamaha stickers and a 7 years old engine pffff!!
I dont think this sled is gonna hold up like my Nytro with 270-300 turbo hp.

can cat do whatever they want to the nytro motor in their platform??( ei turbo?) I also hear cat has one more year left with their engine supplier.....the press release just said cat got motors from yamaha nothing about clutches...

At this point we can't be sure the Cat version will be the same as the Yamaha version. Remember, this sed was built to Yamaha's specs and there are differences between it and a regular procross.

Really? what do you think there gonna change comming off the same assembly line with the same workforce? Do you think the workers are gonna say HEY WAIT this ones a Yamaha, we gotta do a better job on this one....the yamaha "specs" line is bs marketing. Its gonna be the same sled comming off the same line.

Gee how old is the newest BRP motor? How old is the ETEC? Perfection is timeless. Right. Or Is this because a small vocal minority wants a production Turbo or super charger.

Just got home yesterday from the UP so I was away during the unveiling but I hate to say I told you so being I was the original poster on the Cat rumor on this thread. It's on page 2.......

I guess my sources remain pretty darn good.

From what the Cat CEO said in the Sled Trax TV episode, they have already purchased the last motors from Suzuki to be in their 2014 sleds. The new "in house" motors will be in the 2015 sleds.

I would bet that the only thing new for cat in 2014 is BNG, and then a new engine (yamaha power)line up in 2015.

I was really hoping that we would see an entry level sled as well, with a price point to go up against the Indy. The 80hp phazer motor in the procross? Maybe that chassis is just too heavy for that little of hp to be worth it, IDK?

Not sure I see much of a difference in 3 different track length sleds so close together to bring out all at once.

Yes...

from what I know they have enough turbo engines left to get through next year and maybe a few into 2015 until they run out of them, but all ties have been cut with Suzuki.

Not sure if this has been posted yet (if it has i'm sorry) but on the 'Snowmobilers Source' FB page they have a post that reads...

Yamaha said "we are committed to being a leader in the snowmobile market". "We will launch a new model every year for the next 5 years"!

Hmm...I wonder what the next 5 models will/could be?

I think next year will be a new purpose built mountain sled and I honestly believe it will be an in-house build. The 4-stroke Yamaha has never done well in the mountain market because they have never made a purpose built sled... All they have done is tacked a longer track on a trail sled.

That is a growing market and Yamaha is interested, but it just isn't quite ready. I think there is a lot to overcome if you want to make a 4 stroke perform like a 2 stroke in the mountains. I do believe it can be done.

Found this on Sledrumors.com

Enter the all new 2014 Yamaha Viper, Viper LTX, Viper LTX SE, Viper RTX SE and our favorite, the 2014 Yamaha SR Viper XTX SE, the closest thing to the 2015 Yamaha SR Viper MTX SE 162. The only differences between the 2014 Viper and the new 2014 Arctic Cat 4-stroke models will be the fairing/windshield design, syling and headlight.

But no Zuk two strokes or NA 4 strokes for 2014? I'm actually pretty interested to see what they have ready for their launch. Might make the Yammy release look pretty tame. :drink:

oh....another thing. As far as I know Yamaha isn't mentioning any weights of the SR Viper. I was also told by my sources that the front end on this sled is around 70 lbs. lighter than a current Nytro.

Just what I was informed............

The more I ponder Yamaha's "Supply Agreement", the more I think that the 2014 Cat will NOT have a Nytro motor. If I were in Yamaha's shoes, I would want something to keep brand-loyal Yamaha customers from straying. What makes the most sense IMO, is for Yamaha to get Cat's Procross chassis (with a Nytro powerplant) for one year ... EXCLUSIVELY ... in exchange for what will likely be a variety of YMC motors for use in Cat products (including ATV's and side-by-sides) in the years to come.

Given this scenario, I would expect the 2014 Cats to continue to be built with Suzuki motors. Cat still gets to offer a turbo variety, whereas Yamaha agrees to hold off on any aftermarket or factory SC or turbo models until 2015. This IMO, makes the most sense for Yamaha, as they do not have to worry about folks looking for the same thing (presumably at a better price) from Cat. Meanwhile, Cat's engine supplier woes are resolved in time to meet 2015 production schedules.

Also under this scenario, I would look to Yamaha to bring a vehicle of their own design to market in 2015, as they would then want to offer something that cannot also be had through Cat.

My 2 cents.
