Some may also not be happy to ride a sled with a sno pro skid, cause they are blue to the core. Guess it is something we have to deal with every 8-10 years, but hopefully for the better.
If this is all true the only thing I will be watching for is if quality, fit and finish and attention to detail are maintained. I have a dealer that sells Yamaha and Arctic Cat and when you start comparing the two side by side the little details make the difference. If you look closely at any new AC you can start finding small assembly flaws all over it. I have no idea what sort of arrangement they are making, but I hope it is more then just re-badging a ProCross blue. If we get a Yamaha that is still unique in style and features, but just happens to use an AC suspension then I don't see a huge issue with it. If in fact they are going to start building them in Thief River Falls will they be built with the same sort of precision as the Yamahas that come out of the Japanese factory? I've been in the factory in TRF and I have seen pictures of Yamaha's Japan facilities. There is NO comparison with how the two operations look. If they are building Yamahas there I sure hope they have Yamaha people in the building to supervise and do quality control.
I could see plenty of Yamaha riders just jump to Cat if the Yamaha is the same, but I don't see many Cat riders moving over to the blue side.

Seems from looking at a few other sled manufacturers that people are content with upwards of 20% failure in under 2000 miles ..... what would you consider to be big time engine failures? Some of the other OEM have great products except for reliable power plants .... personally I wouldn't spend $5,000 let alone $15,000 for a product that has 20% chance of major failure within a season or two!

I would not stand for that level of engine failure, but then again I think many of us are Yamaha riders because the engines are so good. It's pretty hard to argue that one brand really has it over another when it comes to suspension or other things, but Yamaha really does have some of the best engines on the snow.

Someone had asked Chris about this on the Sled Talk Blog, and he said it wasn't true. I wonder if all dealers are invited but the reps are saying something different?

Yes they did. In fact I was watching some archived vintage oval racing videos from Eagle River on youtube the other day. Whenever there was a class with an old vintage Yamaha or Sno-Jet in it you could darn well bet one of them was going to be out front. Those old Yammies were very dominant on the race tracks back in the day.

Back in the early 1970s my father first sled was a 1972 yamaha EL433B.That thing was fast but he always said a sno-jet 292 was really quick for its size. The old days when a 433cc was a big engine. Now were in the 1000cc range.A nice 673cc triple would be what the doctor order(four-stroke off course).journeyman said:low slung said:Back in the 1970s yamaha supplied engines to sno-jet and roll-o-flex.These are facts ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Sorry folks, just seeing if this thread can go to 100,000 views before Feb20/2013.

OK guys I would like to stray"for a moment" and tell you about yammie quality..................... I've been doing research on generators.... The top 4 gens are as follows....
1 yammie 2400
2 yammie 2000
Honda 2000
generack 2ooo.........
The yammies tested and lasted "TWICE" as long as the honda, and 4 times the other brands......
These are controled studies.. The reviewer couldn't say enough about the yammie quality.............
So my point being is.................................................. They make GREAT engines of all kinds at yammie.......................... I will never buy a sled without a bullet proof yammie motor...... If cat gets some kind of deal then more power to them.. "pun intended.... MM.

Never knew that about Sno-jet always thought it was just Kawasaki engines. That didn't happen until later and Kawi basically liquidated the brand as the employees didn't want to move to the Nebraska factory, Lame.low slung said:Back in the 1970s yamaha supplied engines to sno-jet and roll-o-flex.These are facts ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Sorry folks, just seeing if this thread can go to 100,000 views before Feb20/2013.

LFA is a Lexus motor they just simply collaborated with Yamaha acoustics to get the perfect exhaust note.
