Hey guys got to ride the unstudded xtx this past week, and it rips better than any other apex I have ridded from 06 to 2010 none power valve motor,it was broke in hard like all mine, well its hardly broke in yet,w/41 miles but rings are set now! I only want to do double backers on it,1.25 track,so how many bars or windows does it have,my thought was two doubles side by side than skip bar and one single double than repeat,i want to keep the number down under 144,give me some ideas. Thanks pete

144" track / 2.52" pitch= 57 windows. I did three across of a singe and a double and on the last window I used 2 doubles which gave me 172 total studs. So if you are going to do 4 for every 2 windows, that's "apprx." 112.

If you go 4-0-2 (I think that is what you are contemplating) will give you 6 X 19 =114 studs. I just finished my 2015 Apex XTX and did 3-2-2 for a total of 133.

Thanks bro,i think I will go with 120 all double backers,4 every other bar, like a tree, two as wide as possible followed by two norrower than the last two as narrow as possible, than repeat. The sled is just to fast and slippery w/out studs, our trails now are to icy and getting more rasin, installed my cable scratchers yesterday, big help.

You will end up with 2 rows of 4 repeated. Row 57 and row 1 making the track "unbalanced" according to most.

Ya,I guess it may,but it wont be any worse than running a track after you have a pull out,i have studded tracks in the past that worked out weird like this and they were ok,but yes it would be a little unbalanced, but like I said,i don't really think it will be a biggie.

Its not a wheel! It won't be unbalanced.

Just a little user friendly advice, I would stay away from studding too close to the middle, as my studs wore down the front shock on the skid. Where it angles down to the bottom of the track. After a little over 3K miles, I had to replace the shock before Hygear would re-valve.

Was it the head of the stud inside rubbibg on top of the shock eye,we have seen this before on mono shock set ups,but I will heed your advise. thanks

Yes, the shock eye was worn down by the stud backs. Good Luck with it!

I used the Woody's template on my 2015 XTX and 250 miles on this weekend with no traction issues. Sled hooks up great!

How many studs did the woody template give you, also what length did you run,i want to run 1.400 instead of the 1.325 as IMO you don't get hardly any penetration with the 1.325 on a 1.25 track, and I have heard rumors of the stud of that length 1.40 hitting something, can anyone conferm if it hits the rear cooler of pipe at that length, seems funny its only .075 thou taller and causes this kind of problem.

With the woody 4-2 pattern and a 3 stud on the 57 row. I would think 171 up the middle would be perfect. I loved 162 up the middle on my 136 was a nice trail balance. You know the old adage one for every hp! I used the 1.375 and for ice it was fine, for drag racing maybe not.

I put a prestuded track on and have had no issues with trackion on ice and no other standard stud issues either love it.
