An M10 does offer a better ride than the mono. I am very outspoken about rear suspension compliance because it can make the difference between hating and enjoying your time on your sled. The mono, for all of it's faults, can produce a quality ride that rivals the best offered today. The old twin spar Cat chassis with the basic hydraulic dampeners is pretty close to my sled in terms of ride comfort. The IQ platform, Pro Ride (Rush), not even close. I was dissatisfied at fist too, but was just a revalve away from happiness. If you ride bombed out trails it isn't the greatest. But on groomed trails I bottom out maybe once a year and it just sucks up bumps at 70mph like nothing else, M10 excluded. I'll try an Axys sled next week to compare!Yea I probably should have done that. I bought a dual rate spring from Barn of Parts but have never installed it. Would like to sell the sled and get something different but no luck there either. Doesn't seem like late model used sleds are selling at all. In the off season if I can come across an inexpensive FAST M10 (not a Polaris M10) I might buy that and put it in. With this sled I see how flawed the Mono is.

I think the ride quality of the Mono is closer to an M10 than any current factory skid....just MO. What I detest about the Mono is it's lack of ability to take weight off the front end like the front track shock in an M10 can do.

Yes, I hear you on that one. I was always surprised that there was never an aftermarket option to address this. Really, the mono is/was a pretty good starting point for Yamaha to make the ultimate suspension. They just needed to address ease of transfer adjustment, and maybe add some type of spring force, shock combo to the front arm so to make ski pressure and handling more easily tunable. Instead they scrapped it for the maligned single shot.I think the ride quality of the Mono is closer to an M10 than any current factory skid....just MO. I read that Yamaha hired Randy (?) Karpik? Maybe...just maybe.....this is the beginning of Yamaha coming out with a rear skid that works well with these nose heavy Yamaha 4S sleds.
