My 2016 Vector has now blown this fuse twice this year. My Wife's 2017 has blown the same fuse now. 2 different brand shields. 2 different brand helmets. Anybody have this problem?

Just went through this. But found the problem to be the cord on one of the helmets. But since the offending helmet was used to operate both machines the day before when the weather was warmer, the problem went unnoticed. But of course the helmet cord was not found out until the machines had been checked because.............. there is no way something as simple as a helmet cord could cause the problem. :)

Thank you ProV!
Will replace the fuses on both machines tomorrow. And go to the nearest dealer and buy the cords.

This often happens because the positive is exposed on the cord end so if it falls onto the running board or anything metal, the fuse pops.

that is why i always leave the short cord on the helmet. the long oneonly touches on ground when it does.

Makes complete sense! I should have thought of that. If the cord hits anything that is ground it would blow the fuse. Especially if the key is on or engine running. Just have to change our habits. Thank you.

Sane thing happened to me on my 2016 Apex. Helmet plug came loose and grounded out.

Also as a second option, change your current fuse from a 2amp to a 5 amp. Had this same problem with my Ski Doo Modular 2 Helmet. Took care of my problem.

Mount the sled side of the visor cord to the sled like the '12 and up Apex has. No cord to dangle down, ground out and pop the fuse.
I used some epoxy putty and mounted mine here.

Yeah that is true, but for me it was not the cord touching the machine because I always unplugged the long cord so nothing there to touch the machine. For me it was the short double male RCA that is at the helmet. It shorted out inside. I know this because after I spent some time going over the machine checking out all possible sources on the machine that were part of the helmet circuit, I checked the helmets (all that was left) and sure enough, one helmet would blow the fuse every time it was plugged in. Replaced that short cord and dismantled the bad cord. The plastic coating on the two internal wires had disintegrated in one small section and the two wires were in contact with each other. I know what I am going to check first if this ever happens again. Lesson learned.

a tip for the newer apex sleds is that the power outlet uses the same fuse as the heated visor on the 2011 +.

now if i could only figure out why the heated sheild plug quits working on my 2011 and my 2016 at -25 c with good fuse that would be awsome. as i have rock's smart supply, i plugged into there and they worked fine for the rest of the day.

My wife's 2016 Vector is doing the same...

I agree with the advice I have received on here. The peg that sticks out of the cord. Is the positive side. If it touches any thing metal on the sled. It will ground out and short out the fuse. So my advice is to always unplug from the sled. Not the helmet. Hope this helps.

Rocz power supply 15 mins to install and it solves a few of the problems and you have USB outlets and technical support if you need it by calling him ! It’s the best money I have spent this year !!
