I was wondering if anybody had any information on ordering stiffer rear torsion springs I weigh 280 pounds with my gear on .whats your opinion on leaving stock or changing ?
I think the stock ones are rated to like 250. Should I just crank up the stock torsion springs or should I order the stiffer rear torsion springs does anybody have a part number ?
2016 SR viper ltx LE

Thanks

Holy trail pounder Batman, I would ride it first, then decide. I have a 2016 LTX-LE also, and weigh just under 200, buddy of mine stopped by to check out sled, he weighs what I do, he sat on the sled and it did not even move. Thats on the lightest spring setting. I cannot imagine this sled set to #3 on shock and #3 on springs. You would have to huck it off a 70 foot cliff to compress it.

That's very strange, I've sat on a few of the 2016 137" sleds with the clicker shocks and they felt like they'd be awesome, lots of smooth easy movement in the rear suspension.

Well shock compression has nothing to do with rider weight and torsion springs

You need to ride it first. Shock valving will play a bigger part in ride comfort. 15 LTX LEs were way stiff. Vipers don't have the sit in like older skids have had in my experience. I run the springs on soft, with proper revalve on both rear shocks, but I am 175 with gear. Even pounding the bumps I don't bottom. Others that have ridden my sled and are much heavier than I am also found that he suspension worked well. Think of the torsions as the means to rebound the skid rather than the means by which to compensate for the shock valving. Since you guys have clickers, your a step ahead of where I was. Valving was the only way to fix the problem I had as the valving was to stiff, and rebound too slow even with the springs set to hard. The result was the rear skid packing and not rebounding for the next bump. Once the valving is correct (or the clickers properly adjusted) the springs will give you fine adjustment for ride comfort. Stiffer springs won't fix improper shock valving or dampening. Again, ride it first and see if the dampening is close. If your bottoming, try adjusting the dampening first.

It should sag with those shocks on 1&2 for sure. You sure it's put together right?

I hope so, it cant go together too many ways, can it ? Funny you say that, as I was looking at the rear shock in the skidframe, studying the motion of the shock and how it works with the arms and linkage. Quite the setup. Kinda looks like RR model set up.

Just looked, the spring part #s from 15 to 16 are different. That could be due to the NEW shocks. Everything about these 2016 seems different ??? Guniea pig anyone ?

It's common for people to flip the link the body of shock is bolted to. Grease fitting should be forward on the 137".

16 according to Snowtech the 137le has softer springs in 16. Haven't found anything different in cat Fische yet so not sure yet just what spring they went to.
