I had to back my sled into my trailer today. I put it in reverse and went up the ramp it popped out and it made a grinding sound. It did it wo or three times during the day. I read on here that I have to adjust the linkage, which I will do tonight when I get home. I'm wondering if anything got messed up when that grinding sound occurred? Also if anybody has any tips on adjusting the linkage I am all ears. going on a trip Thursday, so I really don't want to drop it off at the dealer cuz I don't think I'll get it back in time. Thanks

There are two places to adjust but you only need to use one of them, whichever is easier for you to get at. One nut is a left hand thread. Since it is jumping out you will notice a lot of free play in the lever when moving it from the all right position, to the left(till you feel some side pressure), while holding it fully extended. You want to reduce this freeplay to almost zero by turning the threaded adjuster.

I have had to adjust my 16 Vector XTX twice. Only 860 miles. Same linkage. Read your owners manual and follow the measurement. Mine has grinded so bad that I thought the same thing as you. It is fine now. However it takes a couple throttle blips after shifting it back to forward to get it out of reverse. I believe this is due to belt adjustment or drag. Now I need to address that.

Thanks alot you guys for the replies. I got it home and measured my linkage, it was right at the 27mm spec. There was no linear freeplay, but it was wiggley sideways. The bottom bolt with the nyloc nut was loose. Tightened up and all good. Backed it back out loose, put loctite down in the with a piece of wire and retightened.

Good you found it. That bottom bolt came loose on my nos 2016 apex xtx at 1800 km and it would not back up.

I also had a problem with a very slow engagement when going from reverse to forward, some times had to blip throttle and it would engage with a noise, kept doing very small adjustments but couldn't get it perfect, so ended up taking chain case apart and putting in a new reverse spring (the big one) and now just like new. When I took the old spring out I measured it with the new one and old (original) spring was 25% shorter. Did this around 13,000 mile mark.
