What kind of changes/comparisons from 2017 to 2018 are you hearing.
I have heard from some who are interested that dealer implied much better gas mileage next year on the sidewinders!!! How would they do that? Clutching, 1" track, reflash?

Anyone else heard that or other?

Nope gearing like cat did with the early procross!!!

Gearing, better breathing exhaust, helix changes??

Some of the aftermarket companies stated the motor is rich from factory.
Hence why a gain of 15 - 20 HP with an aftermarket muffler is possible.
First year fuel settings would be rich for safety margin and warranty.
Lean out 1st year fuel map settings to gain fuel mileage.

Or the dealer thought it was important to the person he was talking to so he made it up in hope of making a sale. Reined Yes, salesmen lie.

Yes that is possible but both the source and dealer are pretty reliable!

Just thought others may have heard same claim that we're interested in 2018 sidewinder

Salesmen lie? lol. Well if they aren't & have some knowledge of something, then we can get better mpg. I'm sure with ALL the tune testing somebody would have picked up on this phenomenon. AFR's seem about right stock. Maybe this engine is capable of running leaner safely. Most tuners are claiming this is a VERY efficient motor. A brilliant engineering design that we won't fully appreciate for a few years. I hope your salesman is right....and not selling

Very interested, would be great if it is true and is just as simple as getting a new flash from the dealer as I am sick of getting fuel mileage as bad as an old carbureted two stroke.

Yes it would be great news if !! But whereas no one else has heard of this claim???

What kind of fuel mileage are you getting. How many miles on your sled.
I have not seen worse than 10mpg on my winder holding it wide open the whole time after I got it broken in. I get approx 13-14 riding aggressive but not burying the throttle.

Just under 1400. Been 11 since day one no matter riding hard or easy. My past 09 yamaha nytro and 12 apex xtx both got 13-14 no matter rode hard or easy and both of those were just like my 2017 zr 9000 as in the mpg was the same from the first tank to the last. Have never seen any improvement or post break in bump in milage.

For the record I have had one take net me 13.6 but then the next tank was back around 10-11 mpg.

11-13.Depending on snow and trail conditions and trying for mileage.

wait til its/you are geared down...and I doubt seriously they will lean...if anything it was lean from the factory...maybe enrichen....

Yeah I agree that they have to be lean from the factory to meet EPA standards. And another item to back up that theory is when putting a muffler on it becomes unsafe lean, where if it was rich from the factory it would still be safe with a muffler mod or aftermarket muffler.
