Sidewinder Heat Exchanger Hose

Gates makes a heavy duty hose in 3 ft lengths for HD truck applications. It is much stronger than what is currently used. I will be taking mine back apart and using this hose, and hope for the best. Anyone know the inside diameter of this hose? Dealer has my cut hose.

Exactly, these are big chunks that are causing this issue. This is a problem when saddle bagging and can't thaw the sleds out each night. Guys that saddlebag, do all you can to get the ice out before taking off especially when riding in extreme cold conditions! I will be shocked if more people don't have this same issue as me and my buddy had.
Sorry for your misfortune, If your coming off a Doo these Pro-Cross chassis like to ice up in the rear. My buddy has a 2012 XF turbo and we learned real fast a bout the ice issue. I have the same sled as you for this year. We do not saddle bag (yet) other than a overnight-er on our week long trips to Maine or Michigan. Our routine is such, out on the trail on breaks we're checking, kicking and dislodging ice from around the rear heat exchanger. When we get back to the room at night, out comes the trow rug, rubber mallet and small pry bar and we remove all the ice build up in the tunnel, down the inside sides of the tunnel and skid frame! We usually have quite a pile of ice at weeks end! Pain in the #*$&@, definitely! But needs to be done! I don't know if the cooling system designs in the front of the tunnel are the same from 12 to 18? But my buddy has had zero issues with his Pro-Cross! I was up in Fort Kent Maine between Christmas and New Years and it was cold that week. Cleaned mine out every night and stored in trailer till next day. 608 miles and zero issues. Don't get discouraged with the sled. Your on the best site to find out about all the quarks and issues these sleds have and how to address and fix them!

Maybe in the oem parts finder

I had a 2013 f1100 turbo before my sidewinder and never had a issue in 9,000 miles of saddle bag type riding in Canada. Only issue I had with the cat was the tri-hub went bad at 5,000 miles and a bearing in the chain case at 8,000 miles.

You had no tunnel icing issues with your 2013 Pro-Cross? Wow, you lucked out! Like I said, our nightly routine is, hit, pry and remove! Oh, and a few choice words especially in sub zero temps!

I had icing in the rear but nothing like this Yamaha is doing.

My 2018 ZR 9000 has a slice in the hose also but it did not go through it so I didn’t loose coolant. I don’t see an easy fix for this. How do you even get to it ? I pulled the skid so I can see it better but it seems like I need to pull the drive shaft so I can get to the $5.00 hose!! ?

You two that had the repair done, I believe Evasion Sport did the repair? I was at the Delta in Jonquiere and Bill told me about it.

I don't follow the Cat forums but this cooling system is identical to the two stroke cats - is it not?
Why wasn't this problem rampant in the years leading up to the arrival of the sidewinder and its new rear tunnel cooler.

The most practical solution seems to put the sliders on the coolant line and have it slide over the hose area to protect it ( as posted earlier here)

Piss poor design overall. This is a product of having one chassis covering off multiple engines and model types.

They were repaired at Martial Gauthier Loisirs Inc in Chicoutimi Nord on the north side of the river. Yamaha dealer very close to the airport.

Wow,first I have heard of this, but I do know right where you are speaking of,because my sled was all apart from a crash, and we had to remove all plumbing, including that area hoses. But I now have over 1000 miles on and no trouble,so it was ice ripping it,wow I never saw that coming, same design on my old cat turbo, with no issues, man I hope you guys get it fixed and never have that issue again, sorry to hear that.

FYI, While doing first good maintenance and inspection on my 2018, I noticed coolant leak on my track. Ended up stripping the sled and found this hose clamp under the small heat shield having like 2 turns loose. Tighten and leak is gone. NOW, 18 miles later, flushed the whole engine oil while riding yesterday... big mess under the hood. Stopped the engine immediately and rope it back to the trailer. Oil every where including clutch side. cleaning and Investigating as we speak. Either loose hose again or maybe the roll over valve. I'll soon know.. (on pic I/ pointing on loose clamp coolant hose in question, it's hidden by fabric heat shield)
