Sidewinder Heat Exchanger Hose

I installed the STM protectors today and they are now covering the rubber hoses. Definitely the way to go if you have not installed your protectors yet. A plus is they can be removed easily, no epoxy involved.
Have a pic?

I'm telling you if you spray both sides of the inside of your tunnel with silicone spray you won't get much ice forming. I tried an experiment with my Winder and my Wife's 1200 Doo. I sprayed my Winder real good and let it set. I didn't use anything on her sled. After a weekend of riding her sled had a ton of ice buildup and mine had none. I'm a believer and I will be doing both sleds once a week and before we go on any trips.
When you spray this on, should you keep it off the heat exchangers?

Yes. I spray both sides inside the tunnel and then the center. I use 100% silicone spray and put it on heavy. Let it dry and you should be good to go. I also spray the suspension but I'm not too concerned about it.

Just sprayed mine down with snow blower teflon spray, same stuff ive been spraying on all my sleds for yrs....im sure it cant hurt but It does still hold ice, i do tap on it when coming out from lunch and much of it falls away.

The first pic is the front left and the second pic is the gap between the front and rear exchangers. About 2". I could close this by relocating the front screw on the rear strip back a few inches.

Bringing this back around to the top to let you all know that started working on a protector kit for these exposed hoses. Hope to form up a prototype set today. If my idea works, it will be bolt in design using existing fasteners in tunnel and all you will need to do is pull the skid!

Hope this “fix” will work and fit for those of us with taller tracks like the 1.75 that came on my sled

Good to hear Travis. Im wondering if you will have a upgraded cross shaft like the RR has, Im thinking if we are dropping skid to work on this hose fix, we can replace cross shaft at same time.

Also, have you looked into a seal/gasket for the oil tank? That would be a huge seller!

I'm exploring a few options for cross shaft. I'm actually leaning towards an upgrade sleeve that can be installed to beef up the weaker, smaller diameter shafts.

As for oil tank seal I thought I had a nice idea, but when I went to fit up the prototype it didn't work.

I think the upgrade for shaft will be great if you can get it ready same time as the coolant hose, that way just about everyone will want them both as they can repair both same time this fall before riding season.

I really cant understand why since 2012 cat has not re-engineered the oil tank to have a gasket ect.....Every sled leaks oil after about half a season or so. I dont mind sealing it up once, if that remains good for many seasons, but not sure how long the seal holds. Maybe since I run ROV delete mine wont leak ever again(after i seal it better) as there is no pressure in my system.

Ok keep us posted on cross shaft and coolant protection. Remember some guys saw the entire tunnel bend upward which allows hose to slip off easily, might consider a bracket on top of tunnel across width to keep that from happening too.

That would work well but a major issue with stock setup is the bolt length. It ends exactly where the sleeves end. That would need to be addressed.

I ordered the RR parts from Artic Cat and the bolts supplied are longer. They are m10 x ☓ 1.25. The bushings are the same but the cross shaft is thicker between the bushings
