Got a chance to see the 2018 50th in person yesterday. Nice looking ride for sure! I wish i could tell you guys that they made some changes , but unfortunately i can't and from the people there representing Yamaha they just are not willing to admit there is anything wrong with the clutching. I got the..." I haven't seen 1 like that" Honestly i wanted to say shut the F up, but i was polite. And this was from the tech guy who claimed he's worked on 15 with over 5000 miles on them! Com'n Guy!
I must say it was very disappointing at the very least to see how the product was being represented.
Two 2018 50th anniversary sidewinders to look at, a couple 2017 winders and one Viper to demo. There must have been at least ten times the sleds from all the other manufacturers. Just plain sad!
As far as the Japanese models go, they are snow check only and the last year to get one so don't wait if you're on the fence. You have until April 15th!
Again for anybody that ordered a red/white 2018 50th Sidewinder......you won't regret waiting. The color ROCKS! and I'm a blue guy all the way.

FC, can you elaborate on the red? is the color molded into the plastic? vinyl graphics? shade? metallic at all? hard to tell in the pics and so many reds on sleds look like a cheap plastic beach toy that will fade with UV. I'm soooooo close to ordering BLUE!

That's a lot of white. Mine has more red in it and even the red gets dirty. I like the look for sure but they will be a chore to keep clean. I'm a big fan of the Yamaha red/white color combo. Just like mine it has the most useless windshield to ever come on a sled but it does look sharp.

I am a Blue Yamaha guy for sure. But that 50th Red/White is very nice looking. I see 2 problems with it though. That white will never stay white and when that red tunnel starts losing paint it's going to look bad. At least with the black or even the white tunnels you can tough them up easier. Good luck matching that red. Still very sharp (when new).

Along with the 141 x 1.6 XTX SE, the '17 lineup included a 137 coupled skid XTX with the 1.75 track. Basically an LTX SE with mountain strap and 1.75 track.Am I missing something about 2017 vs 2018? The 2018 XTX is a 137 coupled rear skid with 1.75 lug. The XTX wasthe 141 uncoupled up to that wasn't it? MyViper is... I know I've seen 2017 SW XTX 141's, both with 1.6 lug. No?

Qs3 (no Rebound) on fronts.....Qs3 on rear(No R)....and I think just a base HPG type shock in center.

This is true and for an old guy like me they are more than adequate. I love the way my sled rides and handles. For the younger more aggressive riders they may use the benefits of the QS3R shocks. Either way any of the Fox QS3 shocks are leaps and bounds better than anything that comes stock on a Doo.I think the XtX has same shock setup as the Tcat if I recall?
