2018 Yamahas

I was surprised! We got 30 inches of snow here last week, and yesterday took a nice ride locally, but a cowpath trail back home to make a loop, only had 2 tracks...and it was deep. The road banks were big too, so we decided Id lead and see what happens. Plus the unbroken hill with drifts looked challenging...at this point in the year, if she stuck, leave it and come get it with the loader forks come spring.
Lots of cornfield, drifts, and no tracks were really no issue. The curve skis and that a arm under armor and ripsaw 2 did a great job...when she was sinking in, just open it up and the front pulled out like a jet ski and away I went with a backhoe style trench...never got stuck!! I was pretty happy since the last 2 years were mostly tug hill trails. Ole Ape x did good!
I'm still getting used to mine, still have that nervous feeling tackling the deeper stuff breaking trail, I didn't do to much trail breaking this year at all, some days I do a lot of riding just exploring alone, I was thinking of buying a set of come alongs to put on my sled just in case.

Far better than my mach z's...they sucked in deep snow. Just heard a lot of transfer rod clunking and a few track ratchets, and the snow had settled some. Pure powder would be tough!!

I don't think you will get badmouthed for that at all. I have leaned against many in my local AC dealer and debated if I could live with flat black and green, and I think I could. If I was to order a new sled, I probably would have gone with the 9000, but that new 8000 should be a light bullet as well. Since I don't have a local Yamaha dealer anymore, the thought crosses my mind more and more each year.

Cool part about a spring order cat, is you may have it in a few weeks, rather than next fall. Many 2018's are already shipping. The new 8000 will be tougher as that engine is probably going to hit the mountain sleds first, as the mountain folk are still riding.

Enjoy it, and please report back.

Reporting back. Pick it up next week, thought I'd share a few pics

Nice! And I used to detest cats! How are bulkheads on them? We had a doo with a cracked bulkhead around the shock mounts last year, and it was an older version. I heard about the new ones cracking too. Used to ride ski doo but they seem fragile now....

bulkheads continue to be an issue with DOO, probably worse now than the older models. Byproduct of trying to make them lighter. youtube ski doo bulkhead, couple of vids out there that will make you shake your head.
