Shows how much I follow Arctic CatThese are not all new. The CTEC2 600 was announced in spring of 2013 and released in 2014 models. The CTEC2 800 has been in a couple model years already. Unless they tweaked a few things, these should be the same solid engines as the previous years. These motors that come out of the St Cloud, MN plant are no ETEC on efficiency and oil economy, but much better than the old Suzuki motors. At least you can follow them without coughing in your helmet. But they are still first in the pack......... to the fuel pumps.

The 1049cc engines never had gear reduction that would be the Apex 998 4 cly screamer . The old motor in the Nytro's ,Viper's , and Vectors where specifically built for snow with lower RPM'syou want to see the new 4 stroke they built,watch the video..they made the 1049cc engine 40%smaller physically..its new 2020,no gear reduction needed!!!!

what @rtx moose is referring to is 3-cyl engine used on the Yamaha jet boats. There is a 1049cc 3-cyl engine used on some of the 21-ft boats that is referred to as the TR1 engine used since about 2010. It is essentially the old Nytro motor converted for marine use. The TR1 engine replaced the previously used MR1 engine, which was a 4cyl 998cc engine with gear reduction (aka Apex motor) which was used from 2003-2009. The only other engine used in Yamaha jet boats is a 4cyl 1.8L (no gear reduction) in both NA and supercharged versions.The 1049cc engines never had gear reduction that would be the Apex 998 4 cly screamer . point being they can do just about anything and master it..the apex 998cc 4cyl was very old technology

The 4 cylinder first used in the watercraft wasn't a high output engine like the Apex. Then came along a higher output 4 cylinder version with 1050cc's that had 160hp. Years ago I had hoped that Yamaha would've bumped the Apex up to this displacement, but alas, they of course stood still.The 1049cc engines never had gear reduction that would be the Apex 998 4 cly screamer .
