Looking at the AC 2020 snowmobile website, they say the all new 600 and 800 2 smoke AC engines are AC designed and built engines in MN. They boast an ECU controlled electric oil pump. With their programming I hope they get this right. I remember my 69 SL351 using a belt driven oil pump always concerned that little rubber band belt would snap, however Yamaha engineering never had a failed oil pump belt, however it was out in the open where you could see it.

Probably as long as people don't keep starting new 2020 threads. It is kind of funny that we're so competitive we have to the fastest sled, the deepest snow, and the longest thread!
Yeah with all the new 20/20 threads if they were combined we would be at 200 pages easily by now.

We'd be up to 159 pages if it was for the Yamaha retooling thread.

I had a local dealer claim that with the 998, 3-cyl if they put a better Cam and some porting and a raise in compression this motor can go to 140/150HP , Maybe make a Wet sump motor to save some weight by eliminating the oil tank like in the dirt bikes and shoe horn this into a new chassis and I'm in .

that would be a apex engine 140/150hp

These are not all new. The CTEC2 600 was announced in spring of 2013 and released in 2014 models. The CTEC2 800 has been in a couple model years already. Unless they tweaked a few things, these should be the same solid engines as the previous years. These motors that come out of the St Cloud, MN plant are no ETEC on efficiency and oil economy, but much better than the old Suzuki motors. At least you can follow them without coughing in your helmet. But they are still first in the pack......... to the fuel pumps.

With all the great engines Yamaha has made, 998T, Apex 998, Nitro 1049, phazer 500, and 1049 Vector with variable performance selector, I can't believe they couldn't or wouldn't come up with their own updated lighter weight suspended chassis to fits these engines. They have everything from 85 hp to 200 hp filled with reliable 4 strokes. Imagine having that stable of proven bulletproof engines to build a chassis around. A chassis or two and an 850 class two stroke engine and they would have had all bases covered. They were so close and then they stopped. The AC chassis saved them but that is not a long term answer, Maybe they build their own better version of the AC chassis for the engines they already have.

Sure hope they don't put one in a Yamaha, don't need that stink tied to their name.

1049 in a Viper is no better than a Cat 600 on gas. ETEC is far better on gas than either.
