Hey guys my son has a new srx with almost no noise at left side of sled. Our sleds have all sounded like a small diesel without oil (haha) until this one. 17 Rtx ,18 Ltx dx, and 2020 srx. Anyone know what’s been changed if anything?

It's been my experience with two previous 'Winders that the noise from the primary clutch/stub shaft doesn't show up until you've logged a few hundred miles. I hope that this has changed with your son's new SRX, as I've picked up one myself for this season. I haven't heard that Yamaha has made any changes in the clutching this season to remedy the noise.
So far I haven't noticed the annoying noise so far at idle speed, but I'm not getting my hopes up though. I think it's just a matter of time and miles before we can expect to find this guy lurking under the clutch side panel wailing away on his maracas...

It gets louder the more miles you put on. The spider buttons and also the rubber in behind start to wear and the noise increases with that extra clearance spider clearance.

newbie - 2020 SW never seen snow - extremely loud primary whistle at idle today after I loaded on the trailer. Goosed as I went the ramp. I opened the trailer door with the side panel removed the whole neighborhood heard that sled. It has since stopped but will start it tomorrow. Sled has 0 miles and has not been broken in. Wonder I did something going up the ramp. Never made that noise in my Garage.

The boy went to Indian river last night for a bit of ride. Guess we’ll find out soon.

Yes, I get that, but that doesn't mean it can't squeal. Lower the belt into the secondary a little more with the BOP adjuster until it stops squealing.
Most likely if you were to lift the rear of the sled up, the track would want to turn on its own. That is a sign the belt may be too tight.

In addition, when the belt is too tight the sled may not want to shift into reverse properly.

that machined tool helps get ride of that racked that happens when the sled gets under load..horrible noise. I noticed it on a Venture Tf but not so much on the Sidewinder. where does noise reduction ring go on the engine? do you have a picture?
