2023 SRX deliveries-

Yamaha had a good display at HayDays, including two ‘23 SRX’s. They look great in person. Jaret was there and I talked with him for a few minutes. He said Yamaha hardened the driveshaft where the bearing race sits and is using a new bushing or new bushing material in the top gear. I’ll probably throw in 24/50 gears when I get mine so I’ll report back on the stock top gear I pull out. Incremental improvements—still the greatest sled on the trail!

Don't expect the new sled to act or be any different than years past. They have been saying this for a while and they have the same shafts and bushings in them they always have. The still wear at the same rate as they have since 2017, nothing has or ever will change, I don't care what Jaret says, its still the same old stuff as always, until they copy the aftermarkets good stuff.

Its up to the consumer to add the BOP shaft wedge and a different top sprocket bushing from DMC, Prevost or the Hurricane roller bearing gear. And while your in the chain case, you had better weld the tensioner bolts still too.

These “updates” began in 2022. All 2022 models have these changes.

That is the sled I wish I had ordered. In red.
I ordered one of each color. My wife wanted the red so I went with the green. Spent last winter on a 137 while my wife rode my 146xtx. Cant wait to be back on a 146.......best trail sled setup imo

It is good to hear they are still making an effort to improve some of the small issues left. I was going to put the driveshaft saver in day 1, but not sure I should mess with it now. Just ride it and keep an eye on it after some miles.
These changes were supposedly implemented on 22’s. I checked my 22 and not convinced the driveshaft was changed. Harder shaft theoretically would make it harder for driveshaft saver to expand but i did not need any additional torque to snug up the bearing. I also took a hand file and could mark the 22 shaft just as easy as an old 17 shaft I had on hand. I still recommend either my new bearing or driveshaft saver on the new sleds.

Take it for what it's worth, but my local dealer has been adding a pin to the sidewinder driveshaft for years now and slotting the inner race so it can't spin on the shaft.

My dad asked them to do this to his 2022 at 0 miles last season. The dealer told him the new shaft was much harder to drill.

I didn't try drilling it. If you can still drill the driveshaft that indicates it's still softer than the bearing race. Bottom line is I think some measure should still be taken to lock down the bearing on the 22 and up sleds as well.
