22T to 23T Chain Swap Needed???

You will be fine. I put the 23 tooth gear on when the sled was new and the chain tensioner barely deflected the chain. This is good as less deflection is better!

Now after 6000 hard miles the tensioner is deflecting the chain a little more because the chain has stretched slightly since new.

I am running 24 and 40 with a 70 link chain with no problems so far. The chain tensioner is barely tightening the chain so I could have left it off if I wanted too.

I would leave it on as the chain will stretch and you will have no way of knowing without being able to tighten the tensioner.
