23 top gear help!!

I just put that 23 top gear and i line-up a bunch of guys (2 mod srx 700 and 1 machz 07) and at the star i leave behind me the 2 srx and the machz but at the end the machz fly by me on a 3000 feet distance.Line-up 4-5 time and always the same result.Can hardly get 101 mph on a lake with 3-4 inch of snow.Machz seem about 6-7 mph faster.I'm reving at 10600 rpm,so what wrong with that gear? :exc:

A well tuned mach Z will destroy an apex. No way no how should an apex be close if they are in similar states of tune. the mach z has 20 more hp & you expect to win? There are some poor running mach z,s out there but if the doo guy has done his homework he will walk an apex on top end.

that machz was stock with 900 km.

Mach Z has 170ish hp & is the same weight as a 150 hp apex. Is there some way a 150 hp sled will beat a 170 hp sled? Don,t believe all the posts you read about an apex beating a mach Z cus a lot of em are fantasy!

Turk is right, you beat it all the way to over a 100 and it has 24hp more than you... Don't expect to win.

I no you are right guys jus trying to get the most of my apex and that 23 top gear,last year my friend got 118 mph on is stock machz 06 with 192 stud 1.450 on ice, i only got 109 on ice stock.I 'm just tring to get more out of my apex,should i get more HP or get my clutch machine for more overdrive to compensate for the 24 top gear?

My best top speed this year with 23 top gear and clutch not cut was 103 mph on snow 2000-3000 feet run.does anybody got better number with that gear?

hey there...

first off,you wont beat any mach zs..unless they are slugs...I have alot done to my sled and I can run side by side with about 7 out of 9 machs ive run...I have only radared slightly better then 3 of them,but run skitip to skitip with most all of them in a drag race...there are two i ran against so far this winter who can slightly pull my over 60mph....those were tuned with some finesse.

My RTX locally has been by far the fastest apex and Im really happy with it...for you to stay with a mach like me,youll have to do your homework...

A ripsaw track will not cut it....ramair is a must,23 gear DOES pull more top end(YES I said MORE top end!).....youll need full synthetics in chaincase and motor...and several other tricks..hehe.

my sig shows most of my tricks...do them all,and you will be right with the machs.

not bad for a heavy 20hp LESS sled....I ran 120on the gun,so far...should beat that when we get ice track back in march..i HOPE!

Changing gearing alone on a stock or reasonably tuned machine will ALWAYS cause REDUCED performance SOMEWHERE. If you gear down, at LEAST add weight to your primary. I'm running 23/42 gearing (stock was 24/38) on my 03RX with 144" track and can consistently hit 125 (giggle gauge) on a plowed road. That translates to a REAL speed of over 115. The trick? Heavy hitters loaded with EVERYTHING they came with, speed sheave, locked secondary, aftermarket helix + helix spacer (for secondary overdrive). When you're only doing the 1 tooth on top, you don't have to go quite as far. At 23/38, you shouldn't need any overdrive.

Hey Dan, I know it's only one 05 Mach and one Racing event , but out of 5 races to 660' I took 3 , tied one, and he got me by 1-2 lengths. All I got are 144 up the middle , awsome transfer and the Mach has the Goodwin clutch, Dynoport can, ( for weight savings ) and 192 picks with 48 being ice chisels! And I know for a fact that his Mach is not a slug, at least I would hope not! LOL. Who knows it may be a different result next time but for now I was the winner that night!!! Doug

ahhhh nice job doug...beating machs is about every apex owners main goal...at least i know its mine,....since Im an ex mach z guy and had to prove to all those mach buddies I can make this heavy low HP 4 stroker roll with the big dogs..YES!

I said a locked SECONDARY, not helix. A helix is a helix, but lock down your secondary so it doesn't slide all over the shaft.
