Can some one please give me an homest review of The SE with fox floats. I feel like this is the sled for me but I'd like a good honest review if anyone has some decent ridding time on one. Thanks.

Can't comment on the SE cause I never rode on. I have the base 128" and I starting to love it. She pushed bad now I have Curve XS skies and it seems to working great

What about suspension? I ride with a guy who has Rmotion we went through a 20 mile stretch of pure moguls yesterday and I was standing since my back was hurting so bad and he was sitting and still pulling away. I was beat at the end of the day, my fault for not sleeping the night before and pushing a 500km day but I feel as if a new suspension would be much better than mine at this point? That is where this review question is coming from. I hear new Yamaha is to have KYB which is very good but I'm on a budget and probably be looking for a 2012 left over.

Have you set the float up better? How do you find it now? I am not concerned with power my Apex is fast and 2011 is faster so that's good. I am not concerned with handling either I have mine set up well it handles great so I'm sure I can set up a new one the same with stock equipment. My biggest concern is how the suspension is and how much better is it than the 06 to 10 models.

Another curiosity I have is how is the ck dual shock suspension vs the fox floats in the bumps? I think I can deal with a 144inch tack is the ck will be better on groomed trail that can get rough. Trying to decipher my next sled i guess it's all going to come down to price and availability when I'm ready to buy next season. any and all information will be helpful.

I have a 2011 Apex SE. I think my 2007 Apex with the Ohlins electronic shock revalved by Pioneer was a better sled in the rough stuff, but I do like the power steering.

I think I"m going to buy a new one. If 2014 are crazy $$$ I'll look for a left over 12. See if that helps my mogul problem.

Doesn't matter what Apex you ride, in conditions like that you will be beat.Murse said:What about suspension? I ride with a guy who has Rmotion we went through a 20 mile stretch of pure moguls yesterday and I was standing since my back was hurting so bad and he was sitting and still pulling away.

Sounds like you are a lot like me in that at this point in my life (52 years old) comfort is becoming more and more important.
I hear the R-motion is a great skid. I'm not sure it's possible to get a mono to provide the same level of performance.
This year I moved from an 07 Attak GT to an 11 SE. I wasn't looking for a new sled but came across a deal I couldn't pass up.
With both sleds I turned to Hygear Suspension to make them ride as good as they can. After spending about $500.00 to upgrade the Float Mega and adding their Dual Pressure chambers to the front float II's I will say that my SE now rides as well as the GT. While I have not ridden the current suspension offerings from the competitors to compare, I will suggest that anyone that has the opportunity to ride my sled comes away impressed by the over-all package.
The SE for me combines speed, handling, comfort and style with EPS being the most significant improvement over my GT. The EPS truly produces a lighter feel.
Today I rode with two nephews of mine. Many times throughout the day I had to stop and wait for them to catch up. I have been riding from the age of 10 and this machine makes me a better rider. At times this weekend I have ridden a REV. It takes less effort to ride the SE resulting in a more enjoyable time.

Thank you! this is the response I've been looking for. I will wait and see what's coming out in 3 days and either go with 2014 or start looking for a 2011-2013 preferable SE since I want the 128 but if a deal on the XTX can be had I'll do that.

Any body else? Can any one give me feedback on how the 11-13 SE and or XTX rides? how do you like it as compared to whatever else you drove? I'm more concerned about ride quality and suspension at this point since I know the motor is flawless and fast.

Out of the box for normal trail riding the Standard 128 is the best. Yamaha got it right on the springs and shocks on these sleds.
The SE is happier at speed in the medium bumps.
The SE will handle the G bumps better.
My 06 GT was better at low speeds.
The power steering would have taken about 200 km off of that 500 km day.
My XTX Turbo is too heavily sprung for me [bought it used] so I can not comment properly on that.
I can tell you though the XTX is no problem with handling on the trail.

Drove my buddy's 2012 SE for 100 miles a couples of weeks ago. I setup the floats for his weight and had Snowtrackers on it for him. The SE rode better in the small stutters than my Attak with a Big Boy spring. On the larger bumps or approaches my Attak is smoother. Even my buddy agreed and wouldn't get off my machine until we got home.
Would I upgrade to a '12'or'13? Yes. Only if I my sled was down for a major repair. The newer design may have abit more power but there is not enough changes for me to upgrade to a newer sled.
The Mono is the Mono. Differnet shocks will help the ride. The only way to get a smoother ride no matter what shock package you have is to get a longer skid.
On the TY Ride we just had, we had to run what seemed to be en eternity of 2 foot moguls for about a mile or so. With a mix of Apex, Apex LTX and Apex XTX the complaint was the same from each rider. Moguls like that just plain suck!
