Three riders were injured Saturday afternoon on Trail 52, near the Taquamenon Falls area. A rider was approaching a hill, at a high rate of speed, and on the wrong side of the trail, when [they] crested a hill and collided with an on-coming snowmobile, creating a 3 sled pile-up. I didn't get the specifics of all three riders injuries or conditions but I was told that one of them had to have their spleen removed as a result. THANKFULLY, there were no fatalities and alcohol WAS NOT a factor. We can chalk this one up to Excessive Stupidity and Speed.

"Blue Me" and I were on our way to Grand Marais from the Sault, when his chain case took a dump. While we were loading in Paradise, we heard the sirens, and saw the rescue unit, sheriffs patrol, and ambulances go by. Most locals WILL NOT ride Paradise, on weekends because accidents like these are all too common. A young man died last year when he went off trail, over a hill, and into a tree - Same trail and non-alcohol related as well.

Alcohol IS NOT the ONLY killer. Please be careful and ride on the right, and ALWAYS expect someone to be around that corner, or over that next hill. And YES, even at night. This mentality has saved me countless times.

Very true if people insist in riding like that tell them to come out to the track and ride with the big boys. People need to understand trail riding and racing are different keep the racing on the track!!

Every time i ride i meet someone on my side on a blind corner. One of these days I'm going to turn around and go ask them what there thinking.I guess these people think they are the only ones on the trail or there just plain stupid F#$%&* 'ers

Just read posts on this site or many others and read how folks say they ride the trails and at what speed and you will see why so many have gotten out of the sport recently, just not safe anymore on many trails.

I ride fast but I also ride smart.I slow down for the corners stay on my side of the trail, slow down when meeting other sleds.I think it boils down to lack of respect for other people.I respect the fact that the other guy is riding for fun as am I and I don't want to ruin his day by risking his life or mine by doing dumb Sh*t on the trail.Just a matter of thinking about where you are and what your doing. Apparently with out a yellow line in the center most riders(drivers) don't know where they belong. Take a drive down a dirt road and you'll know what I mean. :o|

Just got back from a bagger trip in Upper Michigan. Here is what I can tell you. These guys think that they are the only ones on the trail! I had many close calls, 2 Ski-doos, 1 Arctic Cat, 1 Yamaha Nytro, and 1 Polaris. The Polaris driver was coming up to a corner which I was just exiting and he was looking behind him for his partner, but was on my side of the trail! He freaked when I hit my air horns! I had room in the fluff so I took that route. The 1 Ski-doo driver came around the corner at a high rate of speed and almost flipped the sled in front of me when he had to hit the brakes hard. He actually put his foot down so he wouldn't go over. The Arctic Cat guy was the worst as he almost tail-flapped me but then forced the rest of our group off of the trail because he never let off! The Nytro was just west of Watersmeet where there was so much snow dust and we met on a bridge, yes... a bridge. That one was real close!

Guys, just be carefull and drive defensively! Most of the trails I led our group on could have been much more wider!

They have races for people like that tell them to take it to the track. At least on the track we all understand the risk and no innocent people are in the way. I almost refuse to ride the trails due to people like that. I may ride just on the verge of out of control but at least i do it on the track

Natural selection! Just let Nature take over and hopefully no innocent people get hurt.
The problem is, it's the innocent ones who do get hurt. I've had people cut a corner on me, and end up out in the woods for it. All I think is, they had that one coming.
