Greetings all, I am going to be the very proud owner of my first Yamaha this month. U guessed it , a 06 Vector GT :D Boy u guys a clever!
Anyhow, I am considering transplanting 6" Dooly's on her before she even hits da snow. Woody's claimed I should run the 4" but if this "Rip Saw" track hooks like they say it does why can't I run w/6" of carbide.
Isn't that what you balenance in the first place? Studs are not doing much of anything unless you are on ice anyhow!
Can't wait to ride this thing, I have never driven a 4-stroker
Please advise, Thanks

Ditch the stock bars for sure!

I run 6" woody's on my RX-1 - not dooly's, and a 136" ripsaw, not studded. I've never had a problem with darting, other than wearing out the 4" at a rate of 2-3 per season. The 6" held up alot better.

If you've never ridden your sled, then why spend that much money pre-maturely?

Thanks for the reply!
I had read in this mighty fine forum that this should be done be for you even ride it.
PS- I have been riding since the late sixties (geezer) and my last sled was an 05 GSX that pushed like it had no runners at all!
My sled befor that was a 03 Polaris 700 Classic with dooly's and this puppy would cut coners!
I don't want any disappointments from the get-go.

I ran 4" doolys on my vector... "NO" darting at all.. I'm thinking about putting the 4" on my wifes V-max and going with 6" on mine ????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I love the way it steers now.. No studs. I'vee been wondering if the 6" will make it steer harder? :ORC MM.

I run 6" Woodys(not Doolys) on my Rage. It has the 136" Ripsaw on it and handled great when I put those on! I would run 4", possibly 6", but try out the regular ones first.

personally i thought the stock carbides on the vector were very inadequate. i went to 6 inch woodys and it was like night and day. some say the dually"s will load up with snow in certain conditions. i hear that people really like the "shaper" carbides.

I can appreciate that - don't get me started on disappointments ;)

BTW: Welcome aboard!

doolies

I put 6" doolies and 144 studs on my o5 Vector and I was very pleased with the way it handled.

If you want a real good carbide check out bergstrom skegs. scott is great he will custom make them just for you. They are the most durable I have ever used. I have got close to 2000 miles on them and they outlasted my woodys 10" by about 1200s miles. I changed my stock ones as soon a I could toutch my sled last year, the stock 3" are s**t. If you want to rail around corners this year choose bergstrom tripple points.

ditto, if you really want to corner, put on Simmons and Bergstrom.

From 4" carbide i went to dual one. I don't like 'em so much. Genesis you heard right; too much difference between condition (ajustment) and on big snow the flow is not.. &^% snowDynamic ??

Will be going with 6" carbide big rod next season.

Oh.. Its on a RS Venture.

Bergstrom Triple Points!!!!!!! They are the most durable and best handling carbides I have ever used. Scott's theories about skeg design are vastly different from any other manufacturer. This man will tell you EXACTLY how to setup your skis for NO darting and EXCELLENT cornering. His customer relations skills should serve as an example to many companies in our sport. I installed C@A 7" skis on my sled, with his Triples and a 1/8" shim and my 136'd Viper will turn with ANY sled out there. Ask Indy, saw it at the TY ride. Hope I don't offend anyone here, but I really believe if you try Scott's products you'll never use another brand.

Thank you all again!

Viper_Dave, I could not agree with you more!!

I have been in contact with Scott several times via e-mail and he is outstanding to deal with!
Picked up my new Vector GT Wednesday, she'll be wearing a set of Bergstrom TP's this winter! :)
