i just hit 1100 miles on my 2011 xtx sliders. Hit the wear line at the 2nd last set of wheels at 400 miles & have not moved. That is the only spot mine show wear.

Let us know what they say, I'm having the same problem. changed slides at 600 miles, had only 12 mm left where slides curve up in front. I think they need a wheel kit, too many of us w/ same problem.
I put snow scracthers on my skis to help and pulled limiters up one hole . . . . . we'll see

When I was at some grass drags a few years ago most of the guys were using dishwashing soap to keep the slides lubed. What do you guys think about carrying a little bottle for low snow or road-running conditions? Seems like it would keep things better lubed and stay on longer than kicking snow into it (if loose snow is available). Might look a little funny blowing bubbles down the lake though!

always run scratchers. .my wife and I run them all the time..and she has over 3000 on her attak..I just changed the slides on my C.E. xtream ..doesnt get as much snow on it cause of the hudge paddles..so back to the ware factor..for me its the snow..for some reason these sleds just dont get the snow in the track..like I said..lack of snow made mine ware..and cause of her track ,my wifes didnt..it had enough snow from the scratchers..just my 2 cents..

What happens with scratchers on a dirt road (not that you should be on one but $#!& happens)? Do they just kick rocks into the track or do you retract them? I was thinking the soap would be good for areas where the scratchers wouldn't work.

when I come to a long run on the road...I stop and put snow in the track..also along the runners for cooling..do that in the spring too..the coolers are along the running boards..so the snow works great..as for spraying something..we go with jiggaloo...it helps keep the snow down and also takes some of the ware away when on a road..and yes it takes a second to just put the scratchers up on the road..and another to put snow..and one more to put spray ( or soap ) never tried it..But..you have to do those things before its all wet under there..

The soap wouldn't last any longer than a 1/4 mile, probably less imo.
I am sure if you watched these guys at the drags, you'd see them put it on for every pass.

without a doubt wheel kit works ,installed at the base of the curve as for drilling holes at a 5 of dice pattern and loosining the track i definitly noticed less rolling resistance ie more speed.as far as ware it is hard to tell at this time with only 250 miles since this change and condititions changing day to day,i have also noticed that snow from skis get blown outward mmmmmm somthing to do with the design of the belly of this sled .ice scratchers might be the ticket.

You said you have 12mm left on the slides? You shouldn't need to change your slides until you can fit a 10mm open ended wrench from the side. On my MTX, my rear is wore down to about 11 mm but Im still running them because this is when they last the longest. Right before burning through haha... just keep an eye on them when riding. When you can fit your 10 mm wrench over them, it is time to start worrying.

If you are burning up slides in 40 miles you are riding in poor conditions. If you add excel wheels the wear will not happen. The reason yamaha slides wear fast is because the wheels are not big enough. Every other oem uses a larger wheel. So when conditions are poor you ride on the wheel.

B.S. Yamaha said its an accessory (wheel kit) so I’m on my own. I ride in great snow conditions NEVER on no snow. Why do I have to go and spend more money? The fight is not over yet more to come on this story…..
