Well our season is over, snow snakes are opening up on alot of our trails now,but the rain we had and cold temps help harden things up,and the trails had been groomed before the rain. rode down a hard rr bed, with alot of ski grooves and not perfect for speed, but was as good as it will be for the remainder of this year, wish my gps batteries were good to go,but they were wasted,so dreameter was all i had,my 06 apex gt with 1" energy track and 144 studs on double backers was work great, even with my 230lbs on it i was able to run a steady 128 at 10,800-11,000 rpms, the night before crossing a small lake with mixed snow ice,my buddy who is only 170lbs ran it to 132 speedo and it was still climbing at 11,000 rpms, sled has 5700 miles on it,and it has been geared down one to 23 top,not bad i am conferdent if i had my gps i would of seen at least 112-113 on the trail at 128 speedo and maybe 116-117 at 132 i guess thats not bad for the one ton everyone thinks are slow!!

It's a half a ton wet. and drive it like that for miles. Try that with a two stroke.

the R1 motor was built to run up to 16k+ rpm. 11k as long as you can keep your thumb pinned is nothing to it.

The motor is happier at higher RPMs.

I would say that is a close guess.....my o7 attak is 125mph on speedo = 110mph gps. That is 13.5 percent off. Does anyone know how to get these thing more accurate like the 2011....maybe 1 or 2 percent off?

I take it, this was accomplished with stock clutching?

changing the drivers from 9 tooth to 10 tooth corrects the speedometer. been running these since 04. the odometer will then read aprx. 5% low.

Some are grinding two splines off the speedo pickup gear. ( one on each side of the gear) Each spline that is taken off reduces the the speedo by about 6-7 percent.sleddog66 said:mnmsnowbeast said:Well our season is over, snow snakes are opening up on alot of our trails now,but the rain we had and cold temps help harden things up,and the trails had been groomed before the rain. rode down a hard rr bed, with alot of ski grooves and not perfect for speed, but was as good as it will be for the remainder of this year, wish my gps batteries were good to go,but they were wasted,so dreameter was all i had,my 06 apex gt with 1" energy track and 144 studs on double backers was work great, even with my 230lbs on it i was able to run a steady 128 at 10,800-11,000 rpms, the night before crossing a small lake with mixed snow ice,my buddy who is only 170lbs ran it to 132 speedo and it was still climbing at 11,000 rpms, sled has 5700 miles on it,and it has been geared down one to 23 top,not bad i am conferdent if i had my gps i would of seen at least 112-113 on the trail at 128 speedo and maybe 116-117 at 132 i guess thats not bad for the one ton everyone thinks are slow!!![]()

Sounds good, only problem is my pockets are empty of that all important stuff, called money lol,its going to be next year for me now, even if they get a foot of snow, most all clubs have suspended there grooming for this year, plus the warm ground underneith is openeing up snow snakes all over the place, what really surprised us was all the blow down,we had a few trees you could go under if someone held it up,and others you had to cut a path thru the woods to drive around, not much fun, when you were able to get to some good roads to run fast again,it was real sweet, but most of them came at a price, either they came thru a logging operation, that had no snow to ride up onto,to get away from all the dry dirt roads or pavement, the slides and carbides are now ready for a new change.aceltx09 said:I heard 10 tooth will not fit in the apex??? If you grind just one off you will be about 6% we have that done on one of our apexs, and i have done both 180 degrees apart, that gets it almost perfect, maybe even a little low,but it is the best of both worlds.ranger1 said:Some are grinding two splines off the speedo pickup gear. No,this was an old set of daltons 62 grm. base weights that used to be set up for a turbo, and i have ground them down, and installed two heavy rivets, than ground the tip rivet,so my overall weight is 68 grms. with g/w/g yami spring, engagement is right around 4000-4200 and runs to 10,600 than climbs to 10,800-11,000 on very hard surface, like ice or very frozen snow, secondary is stock helix cut .100 thou. pink stock wrapped 70 degrees, both clutches very cool to touch, about best i could get on short notice, and i already had these things hanging around,so it was kinda trial and error, but i have run this combo before w/good results, but never had near perfect conditions to find the sweet spot on this set up,i always like the 23/38 gears with a shortie, and like i said in an earlier post,i have the pace2 energy 1" track with 144 down the middle on double backers, this had held up real good so far, plus the sled came to me with two sets of small wheels already installed for better hyfax wear points, but wheels are all stock die. size. I really think if we had a little more length on the lake,we could of seen 135-138 no problem,i have yet to see 120 gps on any of my attaks/apex sleds, but have seen many 117 gps runs, but they have taken 1.5 miles or more, but with this sled we were under 1/2 mile, for the 132 run,and it was still pulling hard.BADSLED said:I take it, this was accomplished with stock clutching?
