Apex speedo how accurate is it for 06

I brought my GPS to specifically verify the new speedo’s. Problem is, every time we hit a lake everyone just pinned it. I didn’t want to stop and fiddle with the gps while everyone disappears. :o|

Hey dano, cant you just leave it on,and have it read max speed? My etres legend will stay charged up all day in a warm place, like my indide pocket, and it will keep on recording info, and store it until i recall it,what kind do you have? Oh ya i also got a 12 volt plug for mine, and have it mounted in a handlebar bag, with plastic cover so i can view it. ;)!

Well I saw 112 MPH on the 06 APEX GT...so how fast was I really going??? ;)!

You gotta love Yamaha Canada.....none of this "CLOSED COURSE" Bulls*&^T!!!

Thanks again guys....hhhhhhmmmmmmm ER ot GT??? 8)

ER or GT?? The Attak isn't in your decision? Why? I'm still trying to decide between ER and Attak.

The ONLY and I mean ONLY reason the Attak is not in my descision is because of those few extra pounds...The ATTAK would be my second choice after an Apex. It was a NICE sled.

So the long track was faster top end then the shorty? Or is this where you let off because of break in period.

had the er pegged buddy had the attack pegged and pulled the er on top but both were close with around 300 miles on each sled. You cant lose by buying either one.

So are you saying that these sleds are actually slower on top end than the 05 RX1?

So you saying 114 was all toped out,or was she still pulling, but you had to let off, your speed seems way low compared to everyone else who ran them.

The 06's are faster then the 05's period. The 06 shorty compared to the 05 shorty are much different. I passed the 05 RX-1 on the lake when I was on the apex. It wasn't screaming faster, but it was faster. The power to get there is no comparison-Apex all the way!

Take speed quotes with a grain of salt since snow conditions and depth vary from every test ride...

I ran the RTX up to 117 on hard pack and in to a strong head wind on the speedo and still gaining. I let off because there was only 148 MI on it when i got it and it was not my sled. It has been mentioned on here that the speedo's are closer than the RX's were but i can not conferm this. kviper

i got 133 out of my 03 rx1 no studs with 150 miles on it stock clutching hard pack road.ive read that yamaha has changed the gear reduction on the 06.not sure if this would effect top end?

I ran 128 to 132 on my 03 RX= 113 on radar, 30 Mi on speedo, studed, Other wise stock at the time. The Apex's ARE!!! quicker and faster than the RX's. The 117 was on hard packed groomed trail and in a field in to a strong head wind. Some one posted in here earlier that the speedo's were off about 6 MPH at 100 so that would have put it at about 112, 113 actual on snow and still gaining. Not bad at all! kviper
