4th wheel kits

tri hub.jpg

not mine but saw online.

I heard bearings are replaceable on newer models and very cheap to buy ($40 for tri hub) if so I don't mind replacing bearings once a year ??? Already have outside wheel add ons .

I have seen them like the pic. Never have seen that with even just the add on wheels so I believe your plan is a good one. Back when I got my kit the AC's were having failures with very low mi on them. They changed to a better bearing but nobody knew how long that would last. The better bearings have lasted double what originals did. I just didn't want to take any chance so went with the Larson kit which all the racers use. Probably overkill for trail rider but no more worries for sure.

Ok, looks like I'll be researching hub replacements... Thanks guys for spending more of my money;)

I have looked into them and am ordering a kit from Larson Racing. It is very substantial.

I know its not why we ride but anybody notice any mpg gains with the any of the fourth or four wheel kits, I understand it should help with hyfax wear, for now I just put in some new bearings, IMO that skid looks so bad as without the out side wheels.

I don't think anyone has seen an mpg gain it is purely a risk reducer of having tri hub failure far from home

OK, now you guy's got me nervous, has anyone actually had a failure yet.

I just installed Yamaha's kit to my '16 LTX-LE, which adds the two outer wheels but doesn't replace the tri-hub. I had the 4th wheel kit in my Nytro RTX and never had an issue, but as previously stated, it was 4 independent wheels. If this setup fails and the tri-hub blows apart, time to get the dealer to get Yamaha to cover it. Now that I have looked at some of the aftermarket kits, I am hoping my $100 kit from Yamaha is enough. BTW - Yes, I Dip'd it and yes I did finish cleaning it up. ;-)

I ordered two sets from j&t. One for my xtx and one for the wife's ltx.
I just got the two inside wheels, I might add the fourth wheels later.

That's what I am leaning towards too, plus I think the sled easier to put on its side off trail with out the out side wheels.
