5 hour hyfax change!!!!!!!

Just run them 'til the rail shows through...then they're real easy to take off :).
;):D

A couple of years ago,was out riding some plowed roads with a guy, when we stopped he was complaining about a slapping noise comming from his rear suspension, here he wore his slides through at the bend in the front, and both of the hyfax where wrapped around the axle in the middle :o| You should have seen how much fun that was tring to unravel that mess. #$%&*

I just changed mine for the 1st time on my 06 RTX (3000 miles) , what a pain in the a$$%. Like many have mentioned, I cut open the windows a little, pryed them loose thru window and put sled in reverse. I was able to put them in without adjusting track, but was not easy.

I round off both ends of the sliders on my bench grinder, load them up with Lloyds MOOVIT ( WD40 on roids) and slide them right on no probs. Personally, I think that anyone who cutts windows is nutts but thats just me.

hyfax

When I had the screws corrode into place years ago, I started using what I think was the Polaris method. I would drill the screw out, then drill and file a square hole in the side of the rail. I use a stainless screw, and stainless nyloc nut.

Slide nut into hole in rail, and install the screw. It comes out easily after that.

The first change is a bitch. I usually put grease on them and after the first one they are easy.

Also once you have the slider out about 4" drill a hole in it. Than use your trusty screwdriver to pull the slider out.

RTX Rox - I agree about not cutting the hole larger , with alittle viener slider they go thur with one hand.
You should loosen the track or starting them out and the final couple inches going on would be very tough.

My hyfax change technique is to put the rear end up in the air, use a right angle 00 phillips to remove the screws, loosen the track, align a window, then hook the hyfax with the V-chisel of an air hammer. Pull the trigger and that sucker literally comes flying off. I also use the air chisel to slide the thing back on with a bunch of WD40.

Air hammer worked great for me too. Also I took my little 1300 degree butane torch with a half inch flame and held it on the screws for 3 or 4 seconds and I took them out with one hand yes you read right one hand. Turned out no problem. My guess is the loctite used is the red stuff.

I feel ya. Loosen the track and you're good to go.

the stock slides usually have only one cut accross the end which will not allow enough bending when putting them on so i cut 3 or 4 more about 1/2 inch apart then i heat them up by pouring hot water down the length of them then some wd40 and they almost go on by themselves.
