I just hit 500 miles on my venture. Now I am at the lake for another day. Is it really bad if I hit 600 before doing this change? Curious to know what dealers charge for an oil change? Is it a lot more the getting stuff and doing your own?
Thanks.

I have 06 venture bought it with 300 mi. changed it at 750. The sled has over 13000 on it now never added any oil.

And what about my 2011 - I have only got 300 miles on it due to the fake winter - if i don't get more this winter, should i do the oil/filter change; or wait til i have 500??

Ibfeel for u. I planned on having way more. If I hit 1500 km this season I will be lucky. I would try and get another 100 and then change it at end of year.

Change it out, don't wait for the 500 which may come next year, that would cause more damage due to all the wear products and the fact oil goes acidic over time and is why ALL oil manu's recommend an annual oil changed regardless of miles.

Well I will be doing this change myself for sure. Dealer charged $250 for an oil change. ????????? What do they use gold plated wrenches? Sorry I will not pay that much for an oil change. My truck costs less then half of that.

Don't blame you, but I also assume they were going to do the chaincase oil as well as go over the sled for you?

Either way, I still prefer to do my own mtce as you never know what your going to get from some dealers! :o|

I am not thinking the chain case was included as when I called I just asked how much they charge for an oil change. I will call back tomorrow and double check specifically is included for the 500 mile one. I still think I will be doing this myself as the price will still be crazy.

I agree you bang your head on the wall with dealer prices on basic service.

Very well might not have been?
Are you in Canada or the States?
I would believe that price just for an oil change in Canada but would be very surprised if your talking about some place state side?

(If CDN, curious on the dealer's name?)

Ya. The dealers here quoted me $250 for an oil change too. Mine is already off warranty so I will tackle it myself.

Re oil change frequency: no matter how many miles you ride over the winter, always change the oil before storing your 4stroke sled during off-season. Dirty oil sitting in the crankcase/sump is good for nothing but trouble. :o|
