I just baught a 600 Grizzly ( year 2000). I was driving along when it started to sputter and backfire, after about 5 minuts of that it Died. I trucked it home and started to invistagate, I soon found that I had no spark. I changed the plug and still nothing. I checked out the orange wire on the coil for power and nothing. I am at a loss.

Any advice would be great.

The service manual for the 660 says to check in this order:

1. Fuse (Main Ignition)
2. Battery
3. Spark Plug
4. Ignition spark gap
5. Spark plug cap resistance
6. Ignition coil resistance
7. Engine stop switch
8. Main switch
9. Pickup coil resistance
10. Charging/rotor rotation direction detection coil resistance
11. Wiring connection (the entire ignition system)

If all of these check out the manual says to replace the CDI unit.

Hopefully, it's something simple like a loose connection. :?

I have just had the same problem could you give me the resistance on the coil and other items one other thing that may help the plug will fire once if you try again in less than 2-3 minutes it will not fire but wait and it will fire again, but only fire the one time ANY info will be greatly appreciated

Sure thing, the attached Zip file contains a PDF of the 660 ignition troubleshooting section that includes resistance values, circuit diagram etc.

I don't know if the 600 has the same ingition circuit but it's pretty basic and should be quite similar if not the same.

Both Zip and PDF readers are commonly available to download but let me know if you have difficulty with the file and I'll type in the values.

Hope this helps ;)!

Hay man that was great, You dont happen to have any more PDF files on the bike I would love to have them.

I've got the whole manual in PDF but it's over 12 meg. For this project, I just printed select pages to PDF then zipped the file to allow posting on this site.

Send me a PM with your email addy or post the section(s) you're interested in having and I'll be happy to put it together. ;)!

I know that eBay has the manuals for sale. You'll pay 10-14 bucks for one on the disk. As a matter of a fact, I have one for the '99 600 when I owned one (before it was stolen #$%&* ) so if you need it let me know and we can work something out.
