I have an 07 rtx that i just hit 7000 miles with. I dont know how, with the lack of snow, but i just made it. I 'll give an overview on how its been for me. The only mods are pilot skis with snowtrackers and this season i stretched her to a 136 cobra (tracks usa extension). This is season 2 on the snowrtackers, still very little wear (incredible). I also had all shocks rebuilt once, and both rears revalved (pro-active ck skid). Engine, clutches, bushings not touched in those miles. One set of plugs (no reason, just did it),drained and replaced ant-freeze with correct ratio. This side of sled has been nothing but amazing, each and every ride. This coming season I'll finaly replace original battery, just for reasurance. Now to the one only blemish. I've been riding for 35 or so years and have had only two sleds have suspension breakage.,my rtx and brother in laws 07 phazer that he used to keep at my house (since than has switched to doo). As some of you probally heard northern wisconsin trails were incredibly rough after their last big storm. My answer to that was too stand up and hammer through the rough stuff. Rode hard, but not abusive, just fast pace. After removing skid i found front arm cracked for the second time, and rear arm cracked for first. Both cracks around cross shafts where welded to arms. I realize rear crack could be attributed to the track extension, but the front broke last year before the extension in place, so inevitalbly i think same ones would of developed. I know we all rip on other brands for engine life but this is a skid failure, didnt leave me stranded, i could of rode it for quite awhile without even knowing anything was wrong, but does that make it any better. When defending our sleds i dont know if we should let yamaha off the hook on this one so easily. No its not a engine failure, but its a major part of the sled that cant be overlooked. The skids on the ski-doos i ride with are built much better stucturally, and in ride perfomance. I hope yamaha has addressed this on the newer sleds because this has been a ongoing problem. If anything to all you guys, be preventative and go over with a fine tooth comb, and check over engine an clutches too make sure everything is good, especially wire harnesess and such. Overall i still love the sled. Weather good or bad its such a different ride than anything esle out there, and i just love it. It does weigh too much but the weight gives it a solid smooth feeling down the trail that cant be duplicated. Have a good summer eveyone.

That's one of the reasons they don't make the RTX anymore. It just doesn't work very well for it's intended purpose.

Its a great group to be in. Most sleds I would have sold by now.
These batteries are amazing. I'm still running the original battery in my 06 RTX and it shows no signs of slowing down yet!

I have almost 8k on the clock as of now. I say for all the miles that the few things I had to do were minor.
Changed donuts, 1 y pipe, several idler wheels, one drive axle, re-pack bearings and changed the oil and filter more often than recommended. I'm still on the original track with 144 carbide tipped studs. Oh, I just put on the new tuner skis , rode it 200 miles in mixed conditions and they are night and day different. LOVE them.
