Got spanked 4 times by 4 sled lengths by a stock 05 800 renagade HO. 1000 foot packed hard lake. Couldn't even begin to even craw closer. Mines an 03 mountain stock!
The 05 800 ho is a runner. You have too much track & weight against you. Been der dun dat against 05 800,s. Gear up ,run a shorter lug track & clutch the sled to run from 9800-10,200 rpm.

isnt the renegade a short track? my brother with 100 miles on his sled raced an 800 about 70lbs lighter with a 159 track, and absolutely destroyed it in a race...

I think the key word is you have a stock 03 RX-1M. That was the 1st year for the beast and it was not set up very well. You were also racing a sled that is 2 years newer than yours. Look around on this forum and you will find some quick and inexpensive ways to make your sled faster. ECP kit, Lightweight battery and re-locate, Exhaust, Transfer kit are just a couple suggestions. on a stocker clutching clutching clutching makes all the difference in the world. Then drill airbox but then you may need to change jetting and also try the red cv springs.

Yesterday, my Rx-1 M with minor clutching change and a Summit 05 800 151 in break-in mode (he reving 7900rpm)
Out of the hole, the summit is fantastic, a Bullet, but quickly i reel on him too about 1 sled length, Ski almost on his snow flap.But is sled is on break-in, i will destroy me.
By the way, this sled climb and run in the deep in tight place where is almost impossible to go with my sled and think to get out the RX-1 before the summer. Sorry, but my hat goes to the Summit 151 now. We trench about 1 feet, and him about 4 or 5 inch. Weight = :ORC
But i have real fun even with my RX-1

I race my riding partner all the time, he's on the Renagade, and I'm on my 136 1 1/2" 03 RX, K&N's,battery, roller secondary. I pull him by 4-5 at 100 on the dream meter. My wifes 04 Mtn, K&Ns, battery looses by 2-3 at the same distance. Then he had to get NOS

Well guys... I have both sleds 05 800 Gade X 136 x 16 x 1.75 track and 05 RX1 Mnt...We ride at sea level...
Just did 800km expection on RX1 last week and Gade has 1.5k on it...
If we are talking about racing stock vs stock...Not sure about 03 RX1 Mnt, different clutching and some weight lost... Anyways 05 Gade vs 05 RX1 Mnt...they are running neck to neck...Sometimes RX1 gets a jump, cause it seems to hook up better (151 track) then Gade and then its difficult to catch UP...RX1 has more torgues and pulls better on snowy fields...
I did beat Rev 800 121 track out of the hole by 2 sleds with RX1 Mnt...
I am not sure which track Gade you've raced but I DONT see how stock Gade would beat you by 4 sleds...1-2 maybe...He was probaly geared down or even clutched...
Only with a clutch kit and lower gearing I able to beat my RX1 by 4-5 sleds..but I have 16 x 1.75 track, may be he had 15 x 1.25 which is easier to turn, that why he was faster...but again I did kick 2002 800 Rev with shorter track...
I dont think that 800 Summit 151 will beat an RX1 Mnt in a draq race...RX1 Mnt has better TOP End...I did 160km (100miles till the lake finished) on my stcok Gade, Summit wont run more then 90 Top...On a same lake RX1 did 100m as well...
So I guess evetything depends on a sleds condition and how you launch...

I remove middle rivets on my 8bu-00 and, we took some drag this week-end. I have no top end. Weight to light. 1 run 130km/h on hard as well a 130 on soft.
We took drag, and 0-90-100km/h, my rx-1 was in front of both 151 and 144 summit 05. But like i said, now, zero top-end. they pass me like i was parked.
No top, but i like the holeshot.
But forget it, on soft snow, they are amazing quick, my sled trench way too much on take-off.
