What made you buy a yamaha snowmobile over the others?

the triple yammi 2s motors are rock solid, seen a vmax xt 700 with 30 000 miles in the horizon newsletter a few years back,

Minus the vipers terrible cooling design.. I cant believe a "motor" company like yamaha built such a great , incredibly fast ( even by todays standards ) motor with such a stupid error

Heeeeeeey, easy there un slinger. I bet you dollars for donuts you can't even begin to keep up my smoky old Mt Viper in the trees. And despite on and off the gas going through the pow, my sled does not overheat at all. I have a digital temp guage so I always kow my coolant temp. Usualy in the mid 130's degree, which is cool. Mine did come with a rear exchanger also. I never have heat issues , and i run a 2" padle track. :flag:

Yea? Mine blew up. Center cylinder, meet crack.

My Vmax 600 has never overheated. Been with lots of sleds that did. Still strong at 8k miles. Never a problem with anything.

Like this tread. I never rode a machine until 2005. It was a 03 VMax used with 1200 miles. So hearing you guys that rode other brands, etc. is interesting. I bought the Attak because of the R1 4 stroke reliability and FInjection. I don't care if its tippy, heavy, etc. I just want a sled to hit the trails with and be able to come home time and time again and I do still now with 7K miles.

Why Yami?

Back in '07, my 9500 mile '02 XCSP Poo was about spent. Although I loved that sled, I could not bring myself to purchase anything in the polaris line-up. Glad I didn't! My brother and others switched to Yammies in the few years prior, and although there were some issues, they loved 'em.
Here I am at over 14,000 miles and have done my share of fixing and warranty claims. I am confident that NO other sled i could've purchased would still be on the trail :yam:

that is so true,we all have 4 stokes in our group of riders,a few cats with us also, you really benefit from not smelling like chainsaw when coming in a motel or lodge for an overnight stay or just stinking your own home,we have a cpl 2s but they agree to stay behind so we dont have to smell them all day long, sometimes i'll be riding on logging roads in the bush and i know when i'm pulling up to a 2s sled

I cant even think of a new sled that even smells like that anymore.. Doo and polaris sure dont.. Cats probably stink tho..

My 97 sx700 isnt even that bad for a 2smoke

If its a 2s, is still stinks.

Are you young? Im 31.. I grew up ( like anyone older than me ) with that smell... I dont mind it at all.. Back in the 80s-90s noone complained as much as ppl do now...

New technology spoils ppl and turns them into whiney bishes

I'm 46, I started riding at age 6 on a 1970 ski-doo Olympic. Gone thru 10 or so 2s's since. I enjoy not smelling like a 2s. I still have a Bearcat 2s that will be traded for a 4s utility in the next year or so. So, yeah, I enjoy being a whiney bishes.

stinky!

dillagaf, I think most of us forgot how bad we smelled after a day of riding, The smell usally doesn't bother me when I'm riding with two strokers but if I am not leading, I cannot believe how bad my gear/clothes smell at days end.

At one time I did like the smell of the 2s.

There's more than one of you?

Anyways. To each their own. I don't mind either. The smell has nothing to do with me having fun

Nytro - Power, fun factor, seating position, power, big bump capability, and power.
Vector - Reliability, quality, and looks. My family had Cats at the time and had major problems with one. Had to be a 4stroke and the only other choice was a Yamaha.

Reliabilty, fit and finish, plus I know it will always bring me home. Been riding on a Yamaha since my 1982 ET300 and have no plan to change brands but some of the new stuff does tempt me.

We pulled up to the gas station to fill up and most of the sleds were waiting for the gas can so they could premix their fuel. We just popped the cap and pumped the fuel straight in and were done. Of course there was those that were quick to say that will never work and that motor will seize. That was 1969 and that was a SL351 and funny how everybody else is still trying to catch up with YAMAHA. Haven't really had much of a reason to leave YAMAHA, kinda doubt if I ever will either...but that's just me :flag:

But with other companies having extended (3-4 yr ) warranties does it ever make you want to try something else? Ski doos new 1200 has been praised as overbuilt and a solid machine , poo and the cleanfire are taking jabs at etec but just can't get it right. Cat. Well cats just aren't for me. Do I don't care :)

I love yamaha. I've had 5 and still have one but with everything out today it's getting tougher and tougher to choose the right sled for you. Nomatter what I think it's crazy that most dealers ( around here ) expect you to buy without riding first. I guess they must make the big bucks because 10k over a sled is alot of $$ to me

I could never understand that thinking either. We would never buy an automobile w/o 1st test driving it.

My dealer set up a phazer for me when i was looking at buying one and let me ride it around their field in the back.

Everytime i go to my Yamaha dealer he smiles and asks if i brought a helmet with. I've test rode some toys, but not near what he's offered, i feel too guilty, lol.
