I don't know guys...these things just may not be worth it!
My right side guard got packed with snow the other day, causing it to bend the guard outwards, so it doesn't sit straight and even on the shock anymore.
Basically the shock was mashing and compressing the snow into the pocket the guard has created.

Is it possible these guards are more of a snow 'scoupe'?!!!!! lol!!!

I am gonna take mine off this week and drill holes in them, in an attempt to make them so they DON'T collect snow!

Try mounting the Floats upsidedown. By keeping the exposed shaft on the high side, it is much better protected, obviously :drink: . Any snow that does make it behind the roost gaurd falls out quite easily after a few bumps.

I tried those guards, attaching them both ways, Needles to say, the guards are placed in a box far away from my sled, I hated them, but, that is just my opinion, my buddy uses them on his cat, and loves them......

*UPDATE*

I have now removed my float guards and am taking them back to the dealer for a refund.

My right FOX FLOAT is leaking oil now, as a result of the guard holding in the ice and packing the snow into it.

Hello warranty dep't.

hey guys, I have been looking in the FOX service manual....is it possible for oil to leak from these shocks??

Anyone rebuild floats before?

Maybe this thick sticky oily residue isn't the oil? But my other float is nice and clean?

well my plan was to see what happens this weekend with them.

The FOX manual says that the guards are NOT needed. Don't worry about dings and scratches. Unless they are major.

Mine have a oil film on them, I believe this is normal.

Maybe you are RTing your RTX toooooo much. LOL

Yes, my left side has a thin film on it, but the right was all goooooey, top to bottom on the shaft.
