When I was at Haydays I talked to guys at the fox tent about them making a float for the mono and all he did was side step all my questions. Now will it bolt into my 06 attak? That is the question of the day.

Rich

If it is the same length, it will bolt right in. The question is whether it needs revalving for different weights, etc. You could send it to Carvers or Pioneer to get that accomplished, or better yet, order it from them revalved.

Why wouldn't it work?????

it should, it doesn't seen any different from the 2011 skid, i bet that shock is around $1300

This new skid is a 128" right? They could easily have moved the rear arm back a little - or changed something else - enough where this new shock won't work on the 121/136" skids. Not saying that's the case, only that it would be nice to have that new shock dimension in hand.

AGREED ;)!

i know when i put nextechs float rear conversion kit into the back of my apex mtn you had at least a choice of leaving the scissor straps in. If you dont you better hope that shock doesnt fail. Least with the scissor straps you can limp it home rather than taking them out to save 2 lbs

Rear takes more of a beating then the front, when i AIR it out the rear comes down first, with speed and weight--or real choppy trails.i am sure i would be one that would destroy it.not saying there bad shocks, there great--good idea yamaha..i think? but there not like the FAST AIR-WAVE shock.anyways yamaha and fox set this shock up to get beat-so when it does fail/collapse--then what? :dunno:

good point ;)!

We're still dealing with a glorified Mono here, no? It's never been about ditch banging. This new shock is great because it will eliminate the problems associated with having the correct spring installed, and will likely end up riding really nice. But good solid ditch banging durability? Don't think so.

I have have had fox floats (front shocks) on my 06 Attak and 2 07 RTX's, never had a blow out, never really had a problem other than a stem leak which only needed tightneing. These are the best shocks I have ever had. I think alot of us will be surprised how well the fat mono performs.

Time will tell, so anybody who's got an extra 15K next fall for the SE Apex, please go buy one and give us a report on the fat shock. :letsnow:

The air shocks on the FAST skid use airbags.Yes they are proven in semi's and such but why would a rubber bag that is exposed to elements be any better than a aluminum airchamber with seals that are never exposed to elements?Yes once in a while there will be some that leak but its the same case with any shock.Think about how much that huge steel spring on the mono weighs.Has to be a few lbs saved with airshock.

Fox Floats are sturdy and they are the bomb....... The rear Mono W-Arms are gonna crack and break before any Fox Float loses a seal!

The Fox Float is the least of your worries. Those shocks are great.

is this shock totally new in the industry?

Not really. Air shocks have been around a while. But Fox Floats perform well and aren't too horrendously priced, comparatively. There are also lots of competitors getting into the air shock field now also. I know TEAM INdustries has a new air shock that is supposed to be good also.
