Add top speed on Sidewinder SRX

Okay, so i don't think ill be doing a reflash in the first 2 years for warranty reasons. Maybe in the future.. but for now id just like to gain 10 mph. Anything over 130 mph im happy and i dont want to blow belts. 22 gear for sure, as for clutch kits, im starting to lean towards dalton. You recommend QAY 66 with orange spring and thats it?
I understand the warranty thing... but a good dealership also understands that you might be a little tempted to modify your winder if you picked a good one I'm sure that they will go to bat for you. I've been watching the winder page more than the Apex last year or so. Lots of good reports sure there's some issues but for me I would not let that hold me back from a tune. I'm waiting another year to see if 2020 has a new factory turbo Apex. Anyways enjoy your sled keep the track down.

Well i hope that doesn't happen because the SRX name has to be the fastest.. that's why im buying it lol but that would be pretty awesome and i also thought that's what they would of done this year but who knows with Yamaha. I thought the YXZ 1000 sxs would of had the sidewinder engine by now.. but im still waiting on that

Didn't they stop making apex for 2019?

My advice is to wait it out and ride it stock first. Let the guys who tinker figure out what changes were made and see what shakes out. They made changes to the clutches on the 19s and No one knows what those changes are yet. You might not have to do much of anything.

I put in a clutch kit on my 17' before I ever rode it and chased issues ever since. So have a few other guys. What we are finding out is the closer you get back to the stock helix and spring rates with a slightly more aggressive weight, the happier the clutching seems.

I think 130 is unrealistic without a tune unless you are running on an ice rink for a mile with a tail wind and higher gearing. It's crazy how much more HP is required to gain a few mph once you break into the 120s.
Yup 130 is unrealistic without a tune.

Hey guys, just wondering what would be the best clutch kit and gear to add on a stock SRX to add a bit of top speed. 5 to 10 mph more.. im assuming 22/41 for gearing but don't know much about clutch kits. Thanks

Break it in first.
Not for you, but for OUR curiosity. Until you have 20 posts we don't really care about you. LOL
I'm kidding Mr. Mig, but get to see what it does GPS, clutch temps, mpg, etc. then first service when you need to clean out the chain case, you can change gears & clutch components.

I don't mean to make you a guinea pig, but WE need to know how the new clutch components work........PLEASE!

Migster and others. I put a deposit on a Winder SRX, so I'll give some GPS or radar numbers in stock form as long as I get the right conditions here(No lake, so I need my sideroad to get good hard snow cover)
I'm on board with others here that 130 is highly unlikely without a tune.
Example - The highest top speed I saw on my 18 with 1.6 Cobra track was 117, however, the machine soon after received PT tune with SQ muffler along with Dalton weights and....presto...126

Was the 126 gps on snow,if so impressive?

Once you ride a winder your going to forget about that apex pretty quickly...
I did do the demo ride last winter very impressive but I'm waiting for 2020. Thinking VMAX quad four (Apex) turbo will be in the line up. If not probably going to turbo my Apex and be done.

I think your dreaming my friend. I rode my dads apex for a day last winter. Although I love the engine and sound it felt like I was on a John Deere trail fire from the 70s. Sorry.

I agree with you and yes it a dream, but picture it factory turbo SRX vs factory turbo VMAX what sled would win.

Realistically going to be looking at a new in line. Oldest son is now nine and youngest son is three both future riders if they choose. Clamshell with 136 apex is tight and wouldn't mind a little extra room as I'm sure I will be hauling three sleds at some point.
