I saw an ad today from my dealer who's blowing out his remaining Doo's. Last year he sold his last MachZ for $7,900. He figures it's better to sell the big iron for a loss at the end of the season instead of paying Insurance and interest over the summer. He said that the big iron is the first to sell in the fall for the knuckle heads (like me) that want the biggest baddest and any that are left just set there, Forcing him to do what he does.
He doesn't sell many Yamaha's so I wasn't sure if he had anything left and low and behold he has 1 RTX with reverse. He said I can have it for $8,200 plus Michigans 6% sales tax and $15.00 reg. I honestly can't believe it, this spring the best deal I could get was $8,800.
So much for spring ordering with a deal like this. What's everyone's thoughts?

The good part is now you know what your getting into. By this I mean the hand warmers and wheels the money you are saving could easily repair those minor set backs. If you are not liking any of the 07 line up then I would say go for it you will get full warranty and talk to your dealer about the hand warmers and wheels issues so your both on the same level when and if that problem arises.

The 2 07's that caught my eye are the Attak GT and RTX. I don't want to spend that much for a sled in the GT. I actually like the looks of the 06 RTX but like the warranty, seat and grips better on the 07. He doesn't have pricing for the 07's yet so I can't really compare :o|

The hand warmers and wheels I am sure Yamaha will fix eventually. Just ask him what he will do to handle the problem in the mean time if the wheels keep tearing apart for example. These sleds were a hit in 06 so dont count on the price going down at all for the 07's. That way you are covered until the season is over or Yamaha comes up with the updates.

The sled went up $100 retail price. Do you want the mono skid? I'd like to believe the '06 problems will get fixed. I'd like to believe he can come down a lot more than $600.

I loved the mono in my Attak and and don't see why it wouldn't work well in the RTX. I'm pretty sure yamaha addressed 05 durability issues for 06. I do believe he's as low as he dare go right now and we are suppose to get some pretty decent snow over the next week so I think I'll sit tight and see if he still has it in a few weeks. That will also give me a chance to go look at the 07's next week and see them in person.

Mighty, If you like the mono on the Attack, you'll like it on the RTX. I guess they dropped the mono on the '07 RTX is so the real ditchbanging guys could get some more lift or air out of the sled. Sounds like the suspension won't collapse as much for '07 as it did for '06. From what you want and describe, I'd get an '06. Hold out on buying one til the snow is gone, you'll find one if the local one is gone.

Mighty im sure by now you already have your mind made up..

If it were me id get a used apex ER or a RTX and add the GYTR front shocks and the big boy spring..

But i am fond of the BLACK GT ... and no longer a fan of the blue sleds..

I love the gt... and think the loss of tracking is well worth the switch to a short track.. not to mention the added cornering..

I think my GT is soo great now the the few upgrades ive done that it would be hard to improve on!!

The only downfall to the GT is the windshild and the shock wire.. (that has broken 3 times on me now)

The wheels on the 06 are fixed under warranty, the handwarmers might be fixed or just do it yourself, it won't cost much. To unload the sled I am sure he will give you the warranty at his cost which is $426. I like the new RTX but think the colors belong on a Nytro. To be honest the red of the 06 RTX isn't like anything else out there. I'd go for it if you haven't already. Does the mono shock bother you?

If your anything like me (i buy new every year)you'll buy the 06 and then kick yourself when the 07's are coming in in the fall...Only a month or so left in the season now and then time to snowcheck :drink:  I bought my 04 Warrior in Feb. and still sold it with only 700 miles to buy an 05......

Mighty, you won't be gaining much for extra dough that you'll have to spend to get the 07. I believe the 06 RTX is the best looking sled on the trail, I even like it better than my GT. The wheels are handwarmers will be fixed for us, but we probably won't know what the fix is until the fall. I would say go for it. They hardley any change to them and I think the 06 will go better than the 07, especially because the weight transfer is better on the mono. We'll just have to change the gearing and add a Proline kit and that sled is going to rock. Good Luck.

I would agree if the 07's had something over the 06's that I wanted. But I agree with sledfreak in that I prefer the looks of the 06 RTX.

I'm telling you the 07 RTX skid will be similar in riding to the Cat Sno Pro and unless you are a ditch banger, jumper or wannabe you will not like it compared to the 06. A lot of the Cat Sno Pro models ended up having the shocks revalved for a better ride for trail riders.

I believe the 07 RTX may also be geared similar to the Nytro so no top end.

To me Yamaha is making a mistake with the RTX as who wants a 550 pound ditchbanger just look at the video the DOOTALK guy made again.

Very good points Jim. If I do go short I'll stick with an 06 RTX. I'm sure there will still be a few available in a few weeks. Plus, when the snow is gone dealers will really want to get the sleds out to make room for the bikes and may be more apt to wheel and deal ;)!
