Is everyone using the Yamalube4 motor oil, another semi synthetic oil or full synthetic.

I was thinking about using a full synthetic now that I have 1500 km on my GT.

Thanks,

Paul

Personally, I think full synthetics suck. They are so slippery, it all runs off, and all your top end parts are dry when you cold start. With a semi, you get the impregnation of synthetics and the stickyness of a dino. This conclusion comes from seeing with my own eyes, the differences in how dry the valve train was on many tear-downs of my old CRF450.

Just use the yamaha oil, they build them . they must know what to run in them, plus that way they can't not cover somthing because of it.

Thanks for the reply's Gents!

I have always used Yamaha oil in both my two stokes and in my Vector.

rfabro - I was thinking that full synthetic would be better for the motor, especially on cold starts. Thanks for the advice.

I'll stick with the Yamalube4 0W-30.

I planned to run a full synthetic in my Phazer.. I have an old Ford ranger that is knocking on start up and has no oil pressure for 20-40 seconds when started in cold temps (when running 10w30 mobil 1 5000 mile oil).. I put a full synthetic in and it knocks for less than half the time and builds oil pressure much, much faster.

Run a full synthetic there is not one count em one test that dino out performs synthetic it is that much better. Your sled will thank you by running a wee bit cooler and last longer as well.

I agree synthetic all the way.Synthetic is not so slippery it runs off quicker than nonsynthetic have seen plenty of motors apart and those that run synthetic are always cleaner and coated with oil even a month later.

Mobil 1 is cheaper and better than Yamalube. Yamalube is probably fine for most. But I've had times where I've ran WFO for 20 mins, with not a second let up. As well as being pinned 30 -40% of the time I'm riding. Plain and simple the engine will be better protected, and wear less with it.

LOL if your unsure go with a semi synthetic and cover all the bases.

That's what I was saying.

You pretty much say synthetics suck when if you do your research you will find just how wrong you are. He should go with the Amsoil 0w-40 as mentioned earlier. To tell you the truth these engines are so solid that even the dino oil will never cause a problem as long as one changes the oil regularly. I like the synthetic for better protection, better cooling, way better starting. Both of my sleds burn no oil whatsover. Plus the fact that I only change the oil once a year in the spring prior to summer storage.
