Just wondering if anyone can tell me. I am heading to Quebec in 2 weeks. Do they give you a fine or hassle you if you have an aftermarket can. I put one on so that I could tighten up my chain without taking my exhaust off.

Just came back from Quebec and got stopped by police during a trail permit inspection, running a Ulmer trail can. I expect a fine coming in the mail this week. If the SSCC cert is not stamped in the can it's illegal. What made it worst was they were using Pantera 7000's, they pulled the side cover off their sled and showed my what the stock can looks like and cert. Going back to stock

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. these cans aren't even much louder than Stock, and so much more easier than taking the factory can off to adjust your chain

Do you know what the fine will be?.

Let us no how much the fine is when you get. I am going to start taking my stock one apart and and straighten it out if they are going to be that way about it.

I assume I read about your ticket on QR.com. I don't own a Viper but thats a bitch since just getting to the chain adjuster is worth having the can.Just came back from Quebec and got stopped by police during a trail permit inspection, running a Ulmer trail can. That is BS!!! Quebec should be more inviting to tourism and more lenient to people for other destinations!! My wife and I both have pipes on our sled and never had any issues here in Ontario! If you end up with a ticket fthem don't pay it and ride in Ontario
Sorry it just pisses me of that something like this would happen! I understand if you were in a residential area and hammering the throttle then a ticket would be deserved!!

So I just read that Quebec has outlawed studs at road crossings, which means everywhere. No idea if they are enforcing this but think of the affect that will have on tourism.

This turned out to be a misunderstanding. The documents used to infer a ban on snowmobile traction enhancers was never meant to affect snowmobiles. There is no enforcement because it does not apply to snowmobiles. So I just read that Quebec has outlawed studs at road crossings, which means everywhere. From my experiences in Ontario if you are not being a a$$ (in around rural areas) then no one bugs you with rules and regs!!! Act responsable and there is no issue pipe or no pipe! (in northern Ontario anyway!!)

It was wrong to use the literal definition of "off-highway-vehicles" to include snowmobiles in that sub-set. The words snowmobile, snow machine, or motoneige were not used in the document. The documents used the term "off-highway-vehicles", the definition of which includes snowmobiles so it was wrongly assumed this meant studs were banned except for pre-studded tracks. It was wrong to assume the "Pilot project" banned studs on snowmobiles. There was even rumors of tickets being written - unsubstantiated as far as I know. There was a flurry of activity and communication among concerned people in the motoneige industry and The FCMQ and ministry of transport have issued press releases stating this does not apply to snowmobiles.
This is only of those cases were the internet ran amok with something that turned out not to be true.

Sorry but too much mombo jumbo! We will just stick to northern Ontario trails they are just as perfect as Quebec trails without the headaches or bs regs!!!! Ride Ontario trails without being interrogatedIt was wrong to use the literal definition of "off-highway-vehicles" to include snowmobiles in that sub-set.
