I run the Hurricane/Hindle exhaust with Super Tuner weights no tune. A buddy with a 225 Hurricane tune and clutch work and I rolled out at 30mph and left side by side until 110mph till I let off because I bumped the limiter thought I was losing a belt. I should mention he's about a 100lbs heavier than me with gear on. I'm very happy with my set up.
I don't think you made clear the results of the race in your post.

Let's back up here.
This FrenchPhantom dude is asking if there is a muffler he can put on WITHOUT a tune.
No need to push anybody's stuff here. He wants more noise. PERIOD.
I believe the Hurricane Hindle is the only "claimed" muffler to accomplish this. It gets loud after break in.
Personally i think you should pick the muffler you like best then spend another $500 for a tune to keep it safe.
You don't have to use ALL the power. There are many lower hp tunes on this site to accomplish this.
Keep in mind that any muffler that is packed will need to be rebuilt about every other year.

You are 100% correct about your thoughts.
I had a Viper that I changed exhaust to a Sandale and Big Venom clutch kit that made a huge difference with that sled. I was very happy with the performance difference in that sled.
My Viper XTX 141 with a Backcountry track would do 97 MPH consistently, and I seen 105 a few times. My stock Sidewinder LTX with a Backcountry track seems to top out at 109 MPH. Not exactly impressive for me.
I honestly thought I would get away with doing the same thing with the Sidewinder but that doesn't seem to be the case. Much more complicated and sensitive.
I am looking for a stronger, deeper tone for an exhaust. Of course with that there is less restriction, back pressure and more gas flow. More gas flow = Snappier throttle response. I am not impressed with the throttle response with a stock Sidewinder.
I am leaning towards flashing but I am hesitant for a number of reasons, warranty void being one.
I find it strange that a Hindle exhaust is safe to use, which I don't doubt, but others are not. The Hindle seems to be a low restriction exhaust with the amount of sound it makes. I thought that there would be others that would be safe as well.
Would you believe that I am actually Anglophone!
The CHALEUR PHANTOM reference is to a local legend of a burning ghost ship from my area. The Bay of Chaleur which separates New Brunswick from Quebec.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireship_of_Baie_des_Chaleurs
I use it to identify with my home area.
I find it funny to be referred to as the French Phantom Dude. Dude, I think I will need to get more gold chains! hahaha

Oh yes, while I have the opportunity I would also like to thank you for the excellent post regarding clutch temps. Extremely well done. I also found the same thing you did with the high clutch temperatures using Heavy Hitters. I have taken them out and back to stock with now acceptable clutch temperatures.

You are a fan of the 240 tune? I am considering going that way as well. I am not interested in any higher boost pressures than that. No codes or problems? How long have you been running it. What clutch weights did you go with? There are no aftermarket mufflers you can run without a tune when the temps are very cold outside! We “had” a hindle with a stock tune and it would act like it was hitting a limiter when it was -30, turned out to be an overboost condition. Put a 240 tune in it and sled is impressive as hell!

MBRP trail can. No tune required. Not a high flow can. Only pick up a few HP. But it sounds nice. Not to loud on long runs.

Actually there are a bunch of muffs we don't talk about here, not only because they aren't sponsors, but because we are mostly performance oriented dudes.
Noise without power is kind of like decaffeinated coffee, neer beer & stevewithoutOCD!

You can talk about whatever you want. It's just we usually talk about performance gains & rarely talk about just sound gains. There are lots of other mufflers he can look into that don't get mentioned here a bunch. Some of them might not need a tune either.

I think weather plays a huge factor on the free flowing mufflers. I’d be leary on anyone’s muffler without a tune. You can talk about whatever you want. I’ve done my time with aftermart pipes, mufflers and stingers. I actually have a hearing problem I attribute to some of my old sleds. IMO most were nothing but noise. At 55 now all I want is a dependable stealth sled. With that being said I will be going with a stock muffler tune shortly.
