Anyone aware of options for rebuilding or purchasing overhauled exchange or even aftermarket starters? My '07 starter I believe may be on it's way out. I haven't totally diagnosed yet but Yamaha offers only new outright and they are outrageous in price at over $400.00 last time I checked.

Any other leads out there would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

when I had mine out of sled because of bolts loosening and indexing of starter being out of allignment, i disasembled mine and the only thing that looked like would wear out were the brushes. There are 4 , and a little tricky to reasemble. That being said, I know the motorcycle or quad magazines sell brushes for starters. I ended up buying some for an old honda 3 wheeler that looked similar and ended up having to grind them a little to make them work. Starts like a charm now! Just a thought if your so inclined for a little adventure. Oh, the brushes were like 10 bucks and new starter was 199 bucks. Quit the savings.

I just checked the parts list and the brush set seems to be available, number 8GC-81801-00-00 unless they won't let you order them. Just give the number to the parts guy and see what happens.
