I believe those are the same as the 509 Evolution helmets.

No they are not the same.The afx helmet is a lot weaker.I could flex the the afx helmet with my hands.I looked at the afx helmet at haydays last year and ended up going with a 509.

did some more in-depth research and found that this helmet may not be what im looking for. so i stumbled across a sweet deal on the Klim F-4 helmet ($199.99 @firstplaceparts.com) so i will re-ask the question. thoughts on this helmet???

i have the F-4 helmet - great helmet. Lots of venting, comes with a wind shell for inside if really cold out. Fits great. I have 509 sinister googles and they fit perfect.
Stands upto hards hits too - took a spill 2 years ago and landed face/shoulder first on hard pack - a little chip is all in the breather vent.
Overall - great helmet

get 509 helmet with 509 goggles, worth the $
I know it is hard to do somtimes, but I highly reccomend trying on different helmets from a show or somwhere with many choices. I have found that I am only comfortable in a limited # of brands/styles. I run a fox motorcross helmet, or a lazer full face, but lazer got bought by agv, and now their sheilds suck. I have read many complaints about klim helmets, which suprises me, because I love klim stuff. Everthing I wear is klim except the helmet + goggles.

how does klim sizing usually line up? i normally wear a large.

they run small i have 2010 and 2011 no difference in size, i would go 1 size bigger.

make shere you try it on first to see if it fits. try one on last week and con't get one to fit Large to small xlarge to big no sale.
