Air in oil system after tipping on the side?

Hi!

Went for a "last ride of the season" this Saturday together with a friend on a doo. Some places the snow was hard, in one occation I tried to boondock and the snow was too hard and I tipped the sled over on the side, it took a couple of seconds before I shut it off because I thought I was going to be able to just push the sled down but I couldnt so I then pulled the chord.

When the sled was down on both of the skis I started it, I noticed that the engine symbol flashed in the the display along with an error code (30). Then the engine shut down by itself. At the time I didnt have a slightest idea on what was happenening so I fired her up again and I noticed there was some extra noise coming from the engine. Then it shut down again.

I fired her up again and carefully blipped the throttle, the sound disappeared and the code disappeared.

So, my explenation on this incident is that air must have gotten trapped somewhere in the oil system ?

I`ve seen this happen on bikes after changing oil/oil filter. Sometimes you have to undo the filte whilst the engine is running just to get the air out of it.


I`m not worried, just curious. Anyone had this happen??

Also it has the MCX 180kit installed.

yep my 40th did this when doing power turns and i layed it on its side... code 30... low oil pressure... mine did this... started.. ran for 3-4 seconds, shut off. I did the same once it was running blipped the throttle came right out of it. Just check your oil, and make sure you dont have any in airbox... just remebered... i'm in the nytro forum... but same issue!

Get the OFT ROV, you tip it over once and the oil runs out... not good

Now I know that its nothing to worry about.

I do have the OFT rollover valve installed.

I think this was just a one-time incident or atleast rare incident cause I have been laying the sled on the side "thousands" of times with the throttle pinned and it has never happened before.. so.. .

Even with the ROV when the sled goes on it side, you have to wait for a minute for the oil in the motor to return down to the bottom , even though its a dry sump. If you start the sled without waiting for the oil to return the sled will do this and its hard on the top end to say the least. I roll my sled all the time both left and right, after i just flip it and wait a min and fire up without problems. (I am talkin about A LOT to on the side, hundreds of times now lol)

I would not say that it is nothing to worry about. A code 30 is not a good situation and will casue you problems in the future.
