I ride with a boosted Cat set up by Jason Price and love to drive it. It is a Hot Rod and huge fun factor. I have been reading a lot about the Sidewinder and would love to own one but not in the budget. I have a nice 2005 RX1 and bought a 2006 Apex RTX at the end of last year. I jumped on the Apex last night and put few miles running in some local farm fields and I had a blast. The Apex is a really nice sled and it is no slouch. I think I will be happy with it as long as I don't run with Sidewinders.

I'm in the same the same boat as you. The Sidewinder is sexy as hell but out of my league financially. I have a 2012 Apex and love riding it, I rode a friends boosted Viper last winter and to be honest I am not sure that I liked it all that much so that definitely is kryptonite for me that easily steers me away from doing something crazy :) Honestly at this point if I were to sell my Apex it would be for another (possibly XTX) Apex or I would look at buying a 800/850 ski doo.

I just gotta say it.... The SW is awesome sled for a manufacturer to produce but..... I just got done reading all the latest info guys have to report on them here and I am glad I did not jump to buy one.(not that its a bad sled) Just not a "first year "sled guy for sure! I am just glad that I will still be swinging a leg over an Apex for the time being. And yes, the price of sleds IMO is reaching a breaking point for most which I feel is going to impact the sport.

don't read site as much as used too-since viper's and sindwinder's came out, seem's like a lot of complaining about sled's that have thousand's of upgrade's before even riding them, every year I like my old RX1=Hated by upady sledder's More and More and More.

I don't think anyone is uppity or hates the RX1, that is the sled that started it all! The apex is a better fit for me now but its good to see the SW available if I ever crash mine I am addicted to the 250hp and the SW can get to that with relative ease. So I'm glad they keep coming to the market with new stuff but the RX1 was the sled that changed sledding for me forever!

Never had a RX- 1 so I got nothing to say about them. But I do love my Apex...... I wont be buying a Viper or Sidewinder because of the chassis.

I left Skidoo for the Deltabox chassis. It started with my 2008 Vector, then an Apex. I picked up an '04 Warrior a year ago and love it! There's just something about that sled! ;)!

I have had my 2005 RX1 from 2006. I bought the Apex for my kids to ride and thought I might like riding it more than the RX1. That is not the case. I have added a Cat 128 Z1 turbo rear skid on my RX1 and it rides so nice and hooks hard out of the hole. I will stay on the RX1 until I can upgrade to a nice used Sidewinder

You could not have said it any better. It is becoming ridiculous with all of the mods, tuning before even riding. What happened to just getting out in nature and enjoying the sport. I love power as much as the next guy, but for the little time we get to ride a year, I want to do just that. RIDE

I don't think the mods on a new sled are anything new. It is a little hard to believe that we can now buy a 200 + hp stock sled and still want more. One thing is for sure, boost is addictive. There are a lot of
Cat guys running the trails at 270 hp. It is a little overkill for sure but it is there when the trail dumps onto a lake. I do think I would clutch the Sidewinder, add a muffler and enough tune to make sure she is not running lean and I could be happy ridding it for a trail sled. But then again adding the ECO tune might be all I need. Well might as well get the Power trail tune just in case you need it.
