Long time lurker, first time poster. I "think" I know the answer and am probably overthinking things and being dangerous to myself. I have an '04 RX1 Warrior that sat for two seasons, with gas in the tank. I pumped out the tank (but did not remove and fully clean out as I probably should have now looking back). I removed and cleaned the carbs (were not as bad as I thought they would have been) and the sled fired up and ran fantastic on a stand as it was still 50+ degrees out. After I got it running I did another little project (added foam to seat for riser), got that done yesterday and started sled to run it into trailer. Ran good while warming up then when I tried to power up the ramp of trailer it sputtered, and started backfiring when I gave it gas. I pulled the airbox and see that the reeds are not cycling/moving at all. After it sits, I can get a little power out of it for a moment, but then the backfiring starts and it just sits at 3500 RPM regardless of throttle. Should I do the text book "re-clean the carb" thing or do I have another issue as the reeds are not moving. Did a lot of searching and couldn't find anything referencing the reed movement (the part where I may be overthinking things). I tried looking at the carb exploded view and can't figure where the reeds get their vacuum from to work. I appreciate any help advice even if as simple as "You are overthinking, re-clean the carbs and go from there". Thanks
Your tors is kicking in. Stands for Throttle Over Ride System. On the throttle side of the carbs you will find two see through green colored bullet type connectors. Disconnect them and connect them into themselves. This will cancel the over ride system to see if this is the problem. If this does fix the problem then fix the TORS do not run without it.

what you are calling reeds are the slides, and they are opened with vacuum from the engine. the throttle cable controls a butterfly valve. loosen the throttle cable to allow some slack to stop the tors issue, or do as sleddog said to permenently solve it.when you clean carb jets, hold them up to a lite and look through them, the hole should be round and smooth, if not then they are not clean.

Thanks for the info, was able to sneak away from the kids for 15 yesterday and tried bypassing the TORS and that sadly did not work. Going to pul carbs again tonight and re-clean them. I am guessing they got clogged by some gunk that loosened up since the sled ran great after I first cleaned them, then this issue started. Gotta get it running by the weekend as we are looking at a decent snowfall this week/weekend and the kids want to ride their new 120.

after you clean them make sure you put airbox on to test .

Run a small wire, guitar string, twist tie,,,, through the pilot jets. They may look clean but I will bet there is gum on the sides. those 17.5 pilots are very small, Almost certain that is your problem, although that is easy for me to say here...lol... just make sure you run a wire of some sort through them.

Thanks for the help, found 2 problems when I tore back into it. Two pilots were again completely clogged, the other 2 were almost clogged, I am sure the main culprit. I also found that the little O rings on the main jet holder did not respond well to carb cleaner, they basically rotted and fell apart. $20 later for 4 little O rings I got it back together last night and it is running strong. Also added inline fuel filters between the tank and fuel pump to watch for gunk. Hopefully this is the last go round and we are good to go as we got some snow and the kids want to ride this weekend!
