Hello,
I stared my sled and noticed it seamed like it was not running on all four so I pulled it into the garage and pulled all the old fuel, pulled the carbs and cleaned them all and put it back together. Before I put the air box back on I started it up and noticed that it will wasn't running correctly and also noticed that it was blowing back out on the clutch side carb. I pulled the carbs and cleaned them again and fired it back up. Again it is drawing air on the right three carbs but is blowing back out on the clutch side carb.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this. The carb in question is clean, clean and clean.
Thanks
Jeremy

Did you pull the float valve out also? Was the spring in the center movable? Had one that was frozen up on me, easy to overlook.

I believe it was but I will double check as one quadruple check probably won't hurt before I role it back in the trailer and call it a season.
Thanks

Just so I am on the same page: can I have you point out the part number on here: Parts Finder
Thanks

I had a couple of my carbs do that and it was the float not working properly take them apart clean and reset. You may have to buy new float valve and seat. A old mechanic friend told me to try and rub the float valve and seal with a cigarette filter to buff them up. I did that and sure enough it worked they sealed up again.

A little hard to find on the diagram, i think it is #11. You have to take out the screw that holds the float, lift the float up, and this little pin looking thing will come with. The center of that has a spring load plunger that can freeze up.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone. I got my issue worked out. Apparently the fix was just another good cleaning and a frank conversation. In the end it decided to run instead of being traded.
Thanks

RX-1 carbs
Had a similar issue on an RX-1 of one of my buddies. We cleaned the carbs several times and could never get it to run right.
Ended up figuring out to replace all four needle and seats for the floats. Alchohol in fuel is hard on the aluminum needles and causes them to corrode, swell and stick.
Check them closely. If there is any hang up or binding they will not work/run properly.
With new needle and seats has been running like a top for three years and counting.

Call it a season? Dec. 31? Glad you figured it out. Been said hear many times, no matter how clean you think your carbs are...clean the carbs!

In all reality I get to do most of my riding the first week or two in January, after that it is just a weekend or two. Just before I loaded it on the truck it started again so I went to lowes and bought a few bottles of mechanic in a bottle and ran it for 10 minutes and let it set overnight. It was back to normal the next morning.

I cleaned carbs several times, but since I have begun using startron with all fuel, things seem to be much more stable.
