Another dumb EVAC install question

Just got the filter kit installed by my dealer. Going to install EVAC tonight. A couple of questions: 1) Do the filters have to be removed to drill the holes into them? 2)By connecting to the crankcase fitting, I came to the conclusion that the crankcase filter is thus eliminated. Is that where I'm hooking into, where the crankcase filter is now?

Thanks!

Yes by all means remove the air cleaners or else you will get shavings in the carbs, the breather filter innow not used, looks pretty though! good luck!

Yes, I realize that was a dumb a$$ question :) When I was looking at how to attach to the crank case fitting, it just looked like too much of a bend, as the fitting is facing 'backwards'. This was the first engine mod I have ever done to a sled, and I was very nervous even doing it, as I don't know sh!t about wrenching. That's what makes this site so AWESOME!

Seeing as that I had my dealer install the filters, is it relatively painless to remove, drill the holes, and reattach?

yes, you'll wrestle a little at first with the "welcome mat" - getting it back in place properly between the filters and the carbs - but the evac install is pretty easy (this coming from a non-wrencher). The whole process is made a little easier if you have DYNAREX's recipe, as the hose he'll provide will eliminate the need for one elbow and comes with a bend and a larger diameter opening on one end to better accomodate the different sizes of the elbows vs. crank fitting. Have fun!

Thanks. I do have one of Dynarex's systems. I couldn't see much on any old pictures of the hookup as they would not enlarge. Said the 'attachment was no longer available' or something like that. Can't wait to try it, as I 'm leaving for Paradise in the a.m.
