Your machine looks a hell of a lot longer in 151 compared to stock. I get depressed when my friend's sleds pull up beside me with their 144 Summits and Poos. They "look" just as long as my 151.

Most brands put more track on the ground due to a generally lower driveshaft position (assumption here) making for a shallower (better?) approach angle. When putting the M7 skid in an RX1 Mt, the whole skid moves back a bit compared to stock (even using stock front mount points) improving approach angle, and making it appear longer. Further forward UPPER rear wheels seem to make a track look longer as well. A 144 is really only maybe 3" shorter on the ground, not much visually.
Much of the above is opinion, I'm kind of trying to stir the pot here and get some others.
Aaron I may have to spring for those skis from that cheap Yamaha dealer. My sled came with Simmons so its all I know, any improvement in low speed steering would be great. Not looking forward to having to replace four carbides in the future anyway.

Mark, you would love the skis! I'm serious, they do so much better even turning around in the snow park parkinglot (they actually send the machine where you point it). You will get a little more darting out of them, but you get use to it. Guess it depends where you do most of your riding. Trails.....stay simmons, but powder..... new mountains! Take care.

Now that you have some ride time on the m7 skid, can you give some feedback as to overall performance in comparison to stock? i.e. small bumps, large bumps, transfer on trail, transfer in powder, any problems with ratcheting, etc. Thanks for the great pictures and info.

Hemi, believe it or not I have only gotten to ride it one time since install. I am in Atlanta for meetings all week. Will be home Saturday night and plan to ride Sunday again. As far as the changes.....I noticed it does alot better than the stock going over bumps. Just alot smoother and haven't noticed bottoming out(had stock set light for the transfer). Quite a bit lighter than stock, It wasn't really a good day to tell alot about the ride because it was about 3' of powder. Literally, if you stopped you would be probably be stuck. You had to pick and choose where to stop. It did do very good in the powder. Got stuck, but so did all the other brands I was with. Overall....haven't really played with settings yet, but for the money, ($375 or so)well worth the upgrade.

Are you running extrovert drivers? Did you notice any ratcheting in the powder? My sled is set up very similar to yours with exception of skid. It ratchets coming off of cornices or in the deep powder under hard acceleration. Just wondering if I should go ahead and upgrade the drivers now or spend the money and get the skid sooner.

I got the anti-ratchets on mine with the stock skid...no ratcheting whatsoever. Easy and relatively cheap upgrade.

Hemi, I don't have extroverts on mine. I have never had a problem ratcheting! I run this skid with about 1"- 1.5" of sag on the track with no weight on it and have no problems whatsoever. I might try loosening it up even more and as soon as I start to ratchet just bring it back a little. We'll see how much I can get away with. Really thinking about the ECP kit since I am going to do the battery locate just to clean-up under the hood, but I really hate loosing reliability. Hate to mess with jetting also!

Cool, I may go with the extroverts if I can find a decent price on them but its good to know they're not necessary. Let me know your impressions as you get more seat time on your sled.
