M7 Skid Installed w/162" track

J, Damn that thing is long! Your tunnel extension is about maxed out. I wonder if a set of small idler wheels up near the rail tips (front) would reduce the vibration others are seeing (and you may see)? I have 2 extra sets of wheels on axles if anyone needs a set.
Dude, your scrathers are far enough back that I'll have to follow quite a ways behind you to keep from getting dusted in snow. But since you now have your turbo I'll be W-A-Y back anyway. Perhaps the scrathers would be a bit more effective if mounted further forward on the rails? It looks like there may be a spot just forward of the bend in the rails.
Give me a call when you get the windshield for the 600 MM. I can bring the guy from work who's looking for an inexpensive starter sled over to take a look at it. Maybe then we'd have a good excuse for :drink:

Looks good my friend

Yea, I had to tie the flap up on my last ride so it wouldn't get sucked into the track. That's what I get for putting a 162" on with a 159" tunnel ext. I will have to either cut the stock flap or get one of those shorter stiffer flaps.
I took the front idler wheels off and mounted the ice scratchers in their place but they were rubbing on the track so I had to re-mount them. The only place they would fit was where you see them. I know they are a little too far back, but I have the Simmons ice scratchers on the skies so I am pretty sure I am good to go.
The windshield is in. I am getting it tomorrow so give me a call if your buddy is interested.

J.

I had the same problem with my flap getting sucked up all the time. I might cut mine a bit as well. MtViper, I wuold like to see what yours looks like.

Well almost complete, had "large" friend come over to put suspension to the test, looks good hopefully under power same result. Any more news from those who have snow, we are still bare and having trouble rounding up guys for bc trip before christmas!

Oh yeah I may be "Large" but I am the fittest fat guy you'll ever meet :exc: and remember I can run a lot faster mad than you can scared!!! :moon:
TFG OUT

I took my sled out for the 2nd ride yesterday and am liking this AC skid more and more every ride. It is so much nicer than the proaction. I have yet to test in the powder, but I am sure it will be better.

J, you went from a 151" to a 162" so your "wheelbase" lengthened a lot. Of course it feels like a couch, you went from driving a cadillac with a lift kit to a station wagon :D
I still MAY do a cat suspension but I want to wait for Dooman's report before I leap. He has the same set up I would.

Actually I went from a 159 to a 162. The 159 with the proaction did not ride as good as the 162 with the AC skid. Maybe I am just getting defensive because you called it a station wagon. I don't think so Tim. :D Maybe a Ferrari.
Have you got your :nos yet?
If I were you I would go with the AC skid. If we ever get to go riding you can take the red beast for a ride and see for yourself how well it rides.

And I like the emoticon so :die

J, I can hardly wait to pull the trigger on your Red Ferrari on high boost. No news on the Boss Noss Nitrous. I am tiring of waiting and may consider the A/C skid again here real soon. I just hate to tear out the beautiful MPI rear suspension brackets and make myself some farmer Brown looking rear suspension brackets. Then there's the dial in time and who knows if it will work nearly as well as the Pro action for high speed trail riding (where I spend most of my time).
Yes, I bet they work just peachy in the powder but if the rear end rides like a 58 Dodge (station wagon)???
I'll have to try yours J but the one I was looking at was an M7 (not a 1M)rear end and then of course it needs the Holz $75 gizmos to make it work right.
I'm waiting on Dooman's report for now.

Keep her in the holster

Frosty, if you want to save the money and wait for the BOSS NOS; you could allways do what I did. My Pro Action might not be lighter than the AC skids but, it rides like a Holz or Bullydog skid. Best part was it's free and you keep the MPI drop brackets.

I must be out of the loop on what you did? I did see a post asking you how it works but never did read it.
I will try to look around and see if I can find the information.

Lee

Lee, basically it is a poor man's version of Ray's Bullydog or Peter's Holz coil over suspensions. It drops about 7 lbs from the skid using the (If you allready have the MPI transferenhancement kit). I guess saying "it's free" only counts if you allready have the MPI kit and have welding skills or know a friend who does. It cost me a 6 pack for the welding. ;)!

In the topic where Tundra asked me about it; I posted a link to my original instructions and some pictures. BTW I now have 50 miles of test time about half of it on whooped out trails and it's holding up great. The true test will be in about two weeks once I have the Stage 1 SC installed and run about 230 HP.

Jim

Thanks Jim. I appreciate the information. It's nice see someone else on here doing "poor man mods".
It looks like you did poor man mods to save for a turbo! Good for you. I can't rationalize one but I'm trying to rationalize nitrous since it's a lot less than a turbo or supercharger.
I'll study your rear suspension modification.

Thanks again

Frosty

Been out 9 times now....lots of powder. Really enjoy the skid except in extreme bumps. Also, have not over heated or had the track ratchet once even though the track is loose.
